Talking about Eternal Cities, checking out some of my own and others' uploaded cities, and turning this week's Carthago Restituit map into an eternal city.

Despite your best attempts to convince us in the audience otherwise, I really enjoyed this. Made a great stream to throw on the 2nd screen and listen to while peeking over when the mayhem occurred. Obviously if it's not something you would enjoy streaming more don't, but I wouldn't mind more like this in the future if you ended up having fun yourself. It always a good time watching games get stretched to their limits.

I quite enjoyed this "run", please eternalise more cities. Oh, and Jake, maybe make it look easy for one of the future cities? Just a thought. (Just teasing.) That one fountain city is such a work of art.

have you ever considered if it is possible to build eternal city that is intentionaly set up to devolve and evolve blocks of housing to certain levels, all hands off?

Yes, it wouldn't even be too hard: you could set up a certain walker with a long walk that barely reaches a block one in every four of their walker patterns. Something like a priest could force a whole block down all the way to shacks before bringing them back up to Insulae.

Tried hexediting a campaign map file to get rid of the win conditions but unfortunately it doesn't work... I don't know what I did wrong... changed the offset 126140 to 01 but no results... maybe you know what to do?

@@DDRJake Thanks alot... for the quick help :D In case you're interested what my real mistake was (and it was a stupid one) The 126140 i was supposed to search for is the number on the leftmost column on the hexeditor... I searched directly for offset 126140 (on the very bottom of the hexeditor) Thanks to you I can now play all maps to FULL extent...

eternal cities can be solved by an immortal population. just give them the elixir of eternal life bro.

This is likely a comment made in jest, but there is a serious answer: in the original Caesar III, if a citizen reaches the age of 100, they become immortal. They still eat, pay taxes and occupy housing, but they can no longer die and will never work. This becomes a real problem for long running cities with extremely good healthcare. I imagine there could be some hypothetical way to set up a city of only immortals, but you would have zero labour.

@@DDRJake jokes well spotted. but wow i wasn't aware of this glitch. guess its back to homeIessmaxing for me in julius then. can't have my citizens become neets lol. gotta keep fresh bIood coming. and tbf its fun to rotate evictions at the same plot of land seeing houses evolve from 0 to hero all over again.
