Cahersiveen is a small village in the west of the Iveragh Peninsula which makes a living from tourism and fishing.
It is located close to major tourist attractions such as Valentia Island and the Skellig Islands.
There are many shops here: hotels, B & Bs, supermarkets, restaurants, pubs, etc.
Its narrow streets and buildings with colorful facades bring an obvious charm to this community.

Had some great times in Murts pub when we holidayed there years ago. The Locals were some of the nicest people we ever met. Must go back there some time. Wonder if that pub is still there.

I was told by my mom in 1800s Eugene Sullivan lived there. He was my great grandpa. My mom, Martha E. Sullivan passed but told me me her dad William “Kerry” Sullivan’s dad, Eugene Sullivan was from Cahersiveen or around Dingle, Kerry, Ireland. He married a Moran here in Westfield, MA, USA Any info on village Eugene Sullivan was born in would be appreciated. God bless. Thanks so much

One summer in high school, I stayed with a local family in Cahersiveen while studying abroad. On the 4th of July, when we came home for dinner they had thrown together the most special dinner for us (not many people can say they’ve had BBQ in rural Ireland lol) This holiday was irrelevant to them yet they still went out of their way to make it special for us. Between my experiences with my home stay family and the time spent with locals at the nursing home and community center, I will never forget this special town, and the people I met there. I hope to return one day.
