I totally don’t get the appeal of this movie!! I’m not even being biased as an Elvis fan. I couldn’t understand a thing that came out of his mouth!! I had to turn on subtitles. The acting just seems mediocre at best from both of them too. The acting in the first Elvis and Me film was better than this one 😂💀

@@rockinpinkcadillac the appeal of this movie is that we just got the acclaimed Baz' movie last year, elvis hype is still around, "produced" by Priscilla and oscar winner Sofia Coppola returning, on paper this seems like the next oscar winner. But this movie's tone is as flat as a pizza, there is no difference between the three acts, the performances are easily replaceable and the story is extremely one sided. But I can assure you most of the people who are gona see this movie don't know better, my theater was packed and it was all teenage girls that started cheering as soon as the elvis actor's name rolled on screen, not even kidding just the name. The few elvis fans that will give this movie a chance (and they're not many) are gona leave VERY pissed

@@StuntmanDanHemi yeah. It’s literally only the younger generation going to this movie. They don’t care one bit about Priscilla’s story. They are only going there for the actor who plays Elvis. The actor is popular but not that popular. His fan base isn’t that big. If that’s all that’s going I don’t see there being a wide audience. From what I’ve seen is it didn’t do so hot on opening weekend. It came in 4th at the box office with only 5 million. Then to think Marvel is coming out next weekend which is expected to be in the 40 Millions, as well as a new Hunger Games movie and Disney’s wish to be just as high in numbers, Priscilla might get pushed back even lower. I’ve seen NYC theaters packed but they were all the small theaters at Regal and not the big ones. They all only had 5 rows in them. As for the ones with the bigger theaters they were all half full at best. Makes me wonder how successful it will be especially when the audience is only younger generation who are predominantly women. Yeah I figured it was pretty insulting to Elvis. I’ve read the book and it really isn’t that bad. This movie however, seems to be exaggerating all of the negatives in the book to make Elvis look worse than he actually is. There is definitely a motive here.

And yes his fan base isn't that big, the issue is that last year's Elvis movie really made it that big with all ages. Since Baz' movie came out my Elvis tattoo has turned into my most complimented tattoo (and I have plenty of tattoos) people of all ages and genders have complimented it, the overall Elvis hype is still strong. And I haven't read the book, but now I definitely think there is intent there, since Priscilla produced the movie herself, aka she was at arms reach to make sure her vision was rightly portrayed, no wonder Lisa Marie fought until her literal last breath to keep her from making the movie, she knew very well what Priscilla was planning, no wonder they didn't let Coppola use any of his music. And Priscilla still wants to get burried at Graceland lol. You are right about upcoming Blockbusters sinking this movie even deeper, but I think the damage is done, even 60 Minutes just put out a segment about Elvis that is clearly based on this movie

@@StuntmanDanHemi yeah it’s really ridiculous. Riding the coattails but not coming even remotely close to the same results. Elvis got 30 something million in its opening weekend. As for the all ages correct. However, the younger ones are the only ones who are caring about this movie, and it is not Elvis fans either. The Elvis fans are staying with him. Thankfully the Elvis movie came out first so it gave people time to do research on social norms of the time period, as well as others and not just Priscillas perspective. I can’t even imagine what it would be like if this came out first. Thankfully, the movie led to more faithful fans who are sticking by him and not caring about this movie. Otherwise the numbers would have been higher. The only ones it seems who are showing up is the cancel culture brigade. People are saying Lisa was only viewing it from a daughters point of view. She didn’t have too. The Memphis Mafia knew their whole relationship. They were always around. That was one thing Priscilla said that they didn’t often get, was privacy. Priscilla shouldn’t be buried at Graceland at all. But I can see why Riley would want her next to Lisa. I’m just glad Riley put her foot down and didn’t let Priscilla get her way with being next to Elvis. His family needs to be there next to him. She’s an ex wife. I’m glad the estate turned it down and saw it for what it was, a hit piece with sloppy acting at best. The fact that Priscilla thought this was good is a joke. Sure it’s mostly accurate of her book, but it also exaggerated all the bad 10x over. She says she doesn’t want people to insult him or view him as a predator but then passes this. That doesn’t explain dates or timeline. People are really out here thinking she married him and moved in with him at 14 and even had sex at 14. From what I was told the time gap between the 2 months in Germany and when she moved to Graceland isn’t well explained. So much misinformation and no plan to correct it whatsoever. Reading her book wouldn’t fit their narrative though. As for the damage, I don’t think it’s any worse than it already was. They had documentaries out before this movie as well. It’s just the same group of people stirring up hate based on half truths and gossip rags. The rest of the people are either faithful to Elvis, or just don’t care enough about either of them to see the movie. It does give fear to the future of his legacy as generations go on since the younger generation doesn’t like him. I see that being the case with many artists though, with the change in styles, but in this case it’s because they just hate him straight out. My biggest fear is this movie will win an Oscar just for being a feminist and me too movement type film. That seems to be the trend lately instead of talent.
