@@maryturner8242 The doctor and AFO are the only two pure evil villains in the series, in my opinion. All the other villains are at least complex, with tragic backstories and psychologies, but these two? They experiment on people just because. They belong in hell with Shou Tucker.

I understand what you mean and that's why every time Katsuki was on screen I was like: "YOU'VE BEEN TO UA FOR HOW LONG AND YOUR CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT IS STILL NOWHERE TO BE FOUND" I'm kidding. Katsuki got a whole lot of development but I still want him to be the one to make the move towards Deku (not in a romantic way obvi) since he's the one to ruin the relationship in the first place

Hm, that’s interesting you feel that way because, honestly, for me I feel the exact opposite. (Not attacking you btw, just sharing my opinion) I love bakugo and deku’s rocky and frankly unhealthy relationship because I think it’s a lot more interesting than just everything being unicorns and rainbows. I find that figuring out why bakugo explodes at people really interesting to try to figure out, and I love all of the layers to his character. I think he probably explodes at people because he has more pride than water in his body, and he hates the idea of seeming weak or vulnerable, especially because of the way he was raised it’s safe to assume that he wasn’t ever vulnerable with his family. For me, I typically think angry jerk characters are inherently better than normal healthy characters because they always have so many different layers, so it’s really interesting seeing someone who feels the opposite way. Also, I’m really sorry you had to go through being bullied for so much of your life. It makes a lot of sense that you feel that way about characters like that, so obviously, I don’t expect you to agree with me.

I actually don’t hate Bakugo’s character, though I do find some of the things he does or did (like telling Deku to jump off) are fucked up. For one Deku is the one who still admires him for so long even after that and, in some ways, is delusional to have a real friendship with him (so yeah, he did technically sign a death wish). I do find interesting how Bakugo could be passed easily as a Villan with his terrible attitude, but actually tries to do his best to become the best hero. In my opinion, I don’t dislike some of the funny moments between them (in the end most of it is supposed to be entertaining), though I would never ship them together just because “Bakugo is definitely a tsundere type!”. He is an ass, some times funny and likable, some times just fucked up.

Even as someone who was bullied for 6 years of my life, I do not fully agree with this. The point of fiction isn't to have all the characters be either perfectly good protagonists or perfectly bad antagonists, yes his actions are horrible in the beginning but the Anime or Manga does not excuse that or portray that positively in the slightest. Even though he's one of the main characters he is very often portrayed as an antagonist. The reason many people like him is definitely not (just) because of his aesthetics. A major reason for why a lot of people like him (and I, though he's not my favorite) is because of his character development, which he *does* have. Even though he's doing a lot of wrong things, he has a relatable motivation of wanting to be a hero and especially later in the story he calms down a lot. Honestly, he earned a lot of respect from me when he took Uraraka seriously in the sports festival and didn't dismiss her just because she was a girl. He's horrible, but at least he's equally horrible to pretty much everyone after joining UA. People can change is the thing and he's definitely on his way to becoming a better person and on that road he has already become a good character. Of course, that's just my opinion, but the point is that aesthetics aren't the only reason people can like him. Edit: Also, forgot to write it before, but he does have a reason for being a bully at least, the people around him put him up on so much of a pedestal that he started to think others were beneath him. The scenario at UA where he's not overwhelmingly the best anymore shattered that world view which allowed for that positive change. Also this is kinda off-topic but maybe check out "The Sound of Silence"/"The Shape of Voice", aside from being an amazing anime movie everyone should watch in general I think it fits the topic here

you're mistaking the reason why people like bakugou. I'm a lesbian and honestly bakugou isn't really...hot for me. like i like his design and all, but to me he's just a drawing of an anime boy. bakugou is not a good person, but it's demonstrated that he isn't in the best mental position and was basically raised with the idea that power is the only way to have victory. no offense to his mom, but his mom didn't raise him quite well either, and while i wouldn't call it abuse, it definitely wasn't ideal. also, he isn't just a 1d character. he gives midoriya his feelings in the open in the ep "deku vs kacchan" as he has basically a meltdown and cries, and says that he thought he was always "looking down on him". even in that episode, it's said he has an inferiority/superiority complex. so he isn't in the best mental position. does this excuse his actions? no. but it gives reasoning. if you read the manga, their relationship is improving. they were childhood friends, and then they split as bakugou became a bully, but they're slowly mending their relationship. bakugou isn't a villain. it's illustrated in canon that he is very against the idea. there are also examples in character analysis of bakugou of him being a lot more 3d than i can really express in a comment. their relationship isn't healthy atm, but it's improving, and that's what a lot of bnha fans and even ppl who ship them want; the relationship between the two to improve to a point where they are no longer simply "the bully and the bullied" regardless we can all agree on the fact that this animatic is good ^^
