Great video. Was looking for a place for our 40th wedding anniversary and was leaning towards Port Douglas... but now not sure. Cairns looks great too. We are in our 60's and we like wandering around towns and exploring. More research needed. You have helped heaps. Cheers.

Aww... just love this comment and so glad you liked it. Truthfully...if it was my wedding anniversary I would probably choose port Douglas... but depends if you a laid back vacation or not 💖 Hope you have a blast which ever one you pick 😁

Hi guys, I've been to both spots a few times, but 15 years ago my wife and I stayed at (shameless plug) Daintree Eco Lodge and Spa, it was very expensive, but you get what you pay for. A beautiful cabin with spa on the verandah, RIGHT IN THE RAINFOREST. A beautiful part, and must visit part of Queensland. Love North Queensland ♥️
@AquariusTraveller
@AquariusTraveller 6 ай бұрын
You had me at Spa...LOL. I saw the same kind of pricing near Cape Tribulation and their Rainforest lodges. Just a bit out of my price range for a road trip through, but would consider it for a special occasion.

I am visiting Cairns in end of July this year. Is taking a day tour to Daintree is recommended or self drive? I personally am thinking of self drive due to possibility of exploring coastal road adding stops where required.
@AquariusTraveller
@AquariusTraveller 26 күн бұрын
We did it on a self drive tour and I found it easier but I guess way up the cost comparison with your group and what else you want to see. Know that my daintree tour was OneWay from Port Douglas to Cape Tribulation and that even that took the whole day. So, while a day trip from Cairns is doable, there is a whole lot to see and many stops (check out my great barrier reef drive video) ... you'll need to round down what's most important to you and whether you'll do any of the hikes or check out the tree top section out the back of the visitor centre 😀. Sometimes tours can be better with a strict time schedule

I will be in a tour in Cairns for just 5 hours. Do you think I will have time to reach the Butterfly's Sanctuary and coming back on time not to loose the tour. The Kuranda rail is not working and I will go there by car. Thanks for your reply.
@AquariusTraveller
@AquariusTraveller 6 ай бұрын
Kuranda is about 50 minutes one way from Cairns and we spent about an hour at the butterfly place. It would be rushed and depends if you don't have to wait for hiring a car. Is there a reason you want to go there and not The bird park and wildlife zoo.... probably heaps more you can spend your time up there. If your travelling in the next couple of months...make sure you stop at Barron falls too, normally raging with water this time of year 😁👍
