A travel documentary about our three days in Cairo, Egypt. We are far from travel experts or Egyptologists but we wanted to share our experiences with others so that they too might be inspired to visit these amazing sites.

Hi Paul, I just got back from Cairo. Had the best time (just popped a small amatuer video up on my channel of my time there) saw this video before going and found it extremely helpful. It is very accurate to what it is really like. It was helpful to know all the tricks to getting around with minimal hassles, but obviously it's a bit different actually being there than trying to remember the tips from this video haha! The sights, history and culture really outweigh any negatives in exploring this beautiful place rich with history. And at the end of the day it's all part of the experience in Cairo!

A very, very nice film from the hotel, the era around the Cheops and other pyramids. Thank you In 1962 I was inside the Cheops pyramid, outside a dusty path for a bus terminus, no guides at 8 a.m. I was in the grave that had just been discovered, the guards slept until 10 o'clock. I met a Bulgarian architecture student who sketched the pyramid.

Paul, just finished booking our trip to Cairo and Amman, Jordan. LOL - we are flying from ORD thru Frankfort too and staying in Cairo at a hotel very near where you stayed. Thank you for the video - enjoyed it, especially seeing short snippets of some of the same places we will visit. My only addition would to other comments is that the local people who live in poorer countries/economies are not necessarily scammers so much as they are just trying to make a living for themselves and their family, as well as following their culture. So, it is up to us tourist to adapt, not for them to change. Whether Caribbean islands, like Jamaica, or Morocco two years ago, help give them business when you can, ignore when you should, enjoy your trip and just put an invisible bubble around you when you don't want to participate. If they get NO reaction they will leave you alone.

very nice video and nice information. I was in Egypt in 2013 and 2014 to Cairo and Aluxor I enjoy most the trip from Aswahan to Aluxor through the Nile by 4 star boat, there were so many places and museums to see, very amazing trip n I recommend it. I didn't liked Cairo because it was too noisy, not clean places, neglected buildings everywhere, dangerous traffic and people who sell things were very annoying.

This is for anyone planning I too went up egypt from the airport you pay your taxi driver to stay with you the time your there agree on a price (extremely low and so worth it) he takes you everywhere and will even carry your heavy things. You end up having an awesome time because he explains everything too you and guides you. You save money because he will take you to where the bargains are. The best thing no one will bother you when your with him. Now the people you said where fake entrances these are families who owned the land for thousands of years it’s how you feel about it . We actually paid less and went through their land. I felt good about doing that. This is why you need a guide you would have saved so much money and enjoyed your stay. People DO NOT pay your driver unto the end of your stay.

Hello! The best way to avoid the scammers is to walk very fast and pretend you're having a very important conversation on a phone. I suggest you get a dummy phone or very cheap phone, to avoid someone running from behind your back and grabbing it from your ear. My mobile phone was was robbed from behind my ear and I learned my lesson ever since.

Very relatable content. But in my case, I arrived at the entrance to the Pyramids very late, almost closing time, so took a chance with the street sellers. I found a different experience which I kinda enjoyed, but you had to ignore the constant selling through out. These guys are harmless and I simply felt sorry for their desperate situation they are in.

Stuart's travel videos Thank you for the kind comment. I did a lot of research on the actual statistics for tourists killed or injured by extremists in Egypt. The numbers are very low and statistically you are taking a much bigger risk just driving your car to work. If you want to go I really would recommend it, you have to watch out for your money but not your life.

egypt is awesome , but you should have a tour guide with you or you can ignore them and don't let them bother you , me as a local i don't face these proplems , so somehow you may have an egyptian friend who lives in egypt , and tell him that you ae coming to egypt and probably he will help you if he wasn't busy , maybe a foreigner student will help you too because he/she will have more knowledge about egypt because he/she possibly lived there for years , or maybe you can ask a trust worthy local to help you .

first u must don't deal with dollars here in egypt :"D cuz the egyptian pound is too cheap combared to the dollar now when u gonna buy don't lt them fool u camal ride should be from 30-50 pounds any souvenirs like that price egyptians would like to take photos of u or with u for no specific reason if there were big groups around ignore them but if there a few around kindley agree to talk one or two and if u wanna know anything about egypt it's people or culture just ask

fugiveup hey I am from egypt I will give you some tips the camel ride might be 10le. or more or less I am giving you the average you can go any where by an application called uber that you can install on your phone you will understand every thing and you will have the car's number and colour so you can know that it is the one that you ordered and you can ask before you enter about if it is uber and you will choose from the application from where to where you want to go if you visited cairo if you want to go shopping you have malls like -cairo festival city mall -point 90 -down town -sun city and lots and lots you can find there every thing food,clothes,groceries,antiques and if you want to ask about a place or any thing ask teenagers for sure they will understand English . as i am a 14 year old girl i might have grammar mistakes but i totally understand English because it is one of the best languages

I went all the way to Cairo through Gate 1 travel . My dream was to see the pyramids- only to be told by our guide” oh sorry, someone bought all of the tickets for the day so you can’t go inside”!!! They only allow 150 ppl in the morning & 150 ppl in the afternoon limiting the amount that can go inside due to ppl sweating, & affecting the limestone inside. I was so upset- imagine going all the way there & not being able to go in!!! Guess that means I hv to go back!!!

Hi guys! Really helpful video. What do you think? should we hire a private tour to see the pyramids or get a taxi there and do independent travelling? thanks
@PVvideoproduction
@PVvideoproduction 8 жыл бұрын
+valbau85 It depends on how much time you want to spend there. We spent at least five hours at the site on day one and a guide would likely take you through it much faster. There is a lot to explore at Giza. The benefit of a guide would be that they could tell you a lot more about what you are looking at and keep the vendors at Giza from hassling you. I personally liked being there on my own more. It gave us total freedom on how to spend the day.

+valbau85 It's 80 L.E. or $10 U.S. per ticket to the Giza site. If you want to go inside the Great pyramid it's an extra 200 L.E. or about $25 U.S. The Giza site is huge, it has all three pyramids, the Sphinx and the tombs from the video. If you watch the video you can see where we got the tickets.

Gato Sierra I got myself an Osmo Mobile for that very purpose. Software stabilizers usually suck.

It is a really saddening story we, as Egyptians, are harassing and deceiving tourists like this. Where is the State?! It's a terrible act of thuggery. Although he enjoyed his journey to the Pyramids, the scars in his heart from exploitation and scenes of negligence are really heart-breaking.

After I realized that the camel I was on (I named him Tom) was blooded on his neck. Guilt crept in and I refused to take a camel ride back to the start point. The tour guide asked for a tip after paying him more than necessary...I threw out the f word and I really don't use vulgar language. I guess you'd expect this sorta thing with what Egypt, Tunisia and Algeria are going through.

I'm really sad and angry at all of these piranhas who want to scam the few tourists that come here I would like to apologise on behalf of my country and you handled the situation very well and I hope that if you come back it won't be like this.

If the mummies would wake up they would be in shock if they saw cairo these days. The mummy would think thousands of years later and they did not get anything in the row
