CCs passing is exactly why I think she’ll be a superstar in the WNBA. No matter how well she shoots the ball the ability to get teammates wide open shots is insanely valuable. She’s also amazing at pushing the pace which creates more possessions and leads to better offense and your teammates wanting to play with you.

Iowas defense gets criticized a lot for the number of points they allow, but I think anyone who's watched Iowa play on multiple occasions know that Clark is pushing the transition hard. There are teams, like Michigan, that have to take double the amounts of shots that they're used to taking.

All these passes are great but the crazy thing is these are only the ones from this season. She's been doing stuff like this for 4 years now. She had a pass in the 2nd half against Georgia in the NCAA tournament last year that's one of the greatest passes I've ever seen. She was getting picked up just past half court and whipped a one-hand bullet straight off the dribble around her defender that threaded the needle right into Czinano's hands under the basket who turned and laid it in. I had to rewind and watch it probably a dozen times. Aaliyah Boston and NaLyssa Smith are going to love her in Indiana.

I knew you were going to appreciate this one! By the way, even Coach Bluder has said CC's passing is the best part of Caitlin's game. I mean, she reminds me of Bird, Magic, JKidd, Jokic. I heard a NBA vet say she's Steve Nash. But when you consider she's also the leading scorer of all time, you just have to shake your head. No one like her. I grew up in Iowa City, so you can imagine what a ride this has been for me.

If you watch the tourney games from last year where Iowa ran away with it (like Louisville), she turns around after the other team scored and finds Stuelke, Warnock or Czinano to score a layup in transition time and time again. And she did that to South Carolina a lot as Iowa kept fighting off their runs. Her shooting can control a game when she’s on, but her passing can completely demoralize an opponent while building confidence of her teammates. I’ve only seen her play once in-person, and the only thing I noticed that I hadn’t seen on TV is that, in transition defense, she was pointing out opposing players to her teammates right *before* they came open. Her ability to see the entire floor is unreal, and that’s also why she passes teammates open, as you pointed out. 😮 Great video! 🎉

She is the only college player in the top 50 all-time for both scoring and assists, and it's not like she's barely on those lists, she's 1st and 4th, respectively (and she should be on pace for 3rd in assists if Iowa can make it to the Sweet 16). This insane combo is what sets her apart the most, imho.

I remember a moment this year where Clark was driving down the lane, and you could see that literally all five defenders had turned to face her. She just had a smorgasbord of options. Chose the shooter she wanted, and boom. Every aspect of her game distorts a defense, even her rebounding. When she pulls a defensive board and immediately pushes the ball, ANY break in transition defense gets exposed. And she'll find the open runner. Credit to her teammates (especially Martin and Stuelke) for running hard every time. But then if you start worrying about those runners, here comes the transition pull-up 3.

Thank you for this, something of Clark's attributes that isn't really talked about much. But, watching her full games you can see her team building talent in play. She gets everyone involved and better yet, they respond in kind by hitting all cylinders on a play. Caitlin has good field vision, seeing holes, leads and openings three steps ahead of defenders. She reminds me of old timer pro Bob Cousy in her passing, effortless and perfectly time. Watch his highlights and you see the similarities :)

We're watching a female Larry Bird- tell me I'm wrong! You can't- she's a monster every time she touches the ball, so dangerous! We're also watching a team reminiscent of the 86 Celtics, considered to be possibly the best team of all time. The whole team acts as one mind, no greed, just solid fundamentals to get the ball into the hoop. And a team like that is damned hard to beat.

Clearly Iowa is well coached. CC, G Marshal & K Martin have been playing together for several seasons. The Hawkeyes have a well run scheme, every player knows their role & WCCCD (what CAN CC Do). When all eyes are on CC some time their break to the hoop and others drift out past the 3 point line.Playing with CC keeps all involved cause one never knows when CC will flip one the ball or an insane behind-the-back pass. Standing around just watching CC is not the Hawkeye way. I would just love to see the Hawkeyes win the NCAA in a final where Clark sets some sort of NCAA single game (final or ever) assist record and a triple double.

Caitlin Clark is pick your poison. Guard her close, she'll drive by you. Play off a couple steps, she has that killer stepback and a release as quick as Curry. Hedge on the screen, she hits the screener for an easy layup. Don't, and she drains an open triple like it's a layup. Double her, she finds the open player. Play her straight up, she'll score from anywhere on the court. Many of the teams that have beaten Iowa over the past 4 seasons have done so by just guarding CC 1-on-1 (sometimes in a junk defense, but also sometimes straight man), playing good help defense when she drives, filling passing lanes, and shutting down her teammates. Take away her assists and all she can do is score, and she isn't quite as consistent at beating teams by herself... most of her highest scoring efforts have been in losses. But when teams get shredded is when they hesitate just a bit getting back on defense. She can find anyone open on a fast break, sometimes before they even realize they're open themselves. Her biggest weakness is she sometimes tries to force great passes into not so great windows. I'd compare her passing, at least how she sees the court and tries to sneak passes into tight windows, to Jason Williams (she doesn't have quite as much flair as White Chocolate did, but she has the vision and anticipation, but also the higher turnovers). She needs to value the ball just a bit more if she's going to win championships at the next level. But she has all the tools to be an all-time great in the WNBA. And I agree her transition passing reminds me of Kidd. Or maybe Magic. I think she's gonna kill with the pick n roll at the next level, with the talented bigs she'll be paired with.

Watch closely, she puts spin on most of her bounce passes, back, left, right. And if you look at 6:06 she throws a bounce pass that travels half the length of the court into the players hands for the no bounce layup.

This is what the men's game looked like before the flying dunkmeisters took center stage. The old Celtics fast break looked very much like this.

Just imagine how many assists she'd have if the open shots were not missed. Caitlin got game! Perhaps the understatement of women's basketball...even if she's not played a minute in the WNBA. She's the only reason I'm going to watch the NBA. Her first game--and mine to watch--will also be a first.

I think I have figured out Caitlin's game style. She has the range of Steph Curry when shootings 3's, the ability to drive to the hoop like MJ, and passing is a mix of Larry Bird and Earvin "Magic" Johnson.

I like her passing and shooting equally but the way she can control a game is incredible. If you double team her she will find the open player or just blow by them. Last year SC couldn't handle her speed and how to defend a pick and roll. I could see it coming but didn't think that they wouldn't make adjustments. Bad coaching.

Her teammates have never been given credit for how they react to her passes. That takes skills and they are way better than people think they are.

Another thing that you haven't even noticed yet. About Caitlin Clarke and it makes her that much more dangerous. I heard you talking about them, not guarding her on those logo shots. The reason they're not guarding her uptight. Is her first step is so fast? She can go to the Ram and go around. Everybody and get the shot. She won't or the pass. She won't at any time against anybody. She is lightning fast. Her first step is amazing. I've never seen anybody stay with her. That's why they stay back from her so far. Because they know if they close up on her, she's going to go right around them.

Old school terminology Caitlin puts English on the ball, reverse spin, forward spin, left and right angle forward and backward spin. She is as good as Magic and Byrd were in the their prime. This kid is probably the greatest all around Female Hooper I my old eyes have ever seen. LOL all the ho-hum WNBA players have a reason to hate! Caitlin Clarks is the new face of the next generation of women's Hooping! LOL and it's not the white Elvis thing, It is a female with NBA level game skills. And a simple but profound passion to play. Thumbs up and continued success with your new platform AB peace out Grant🏀🗑👍

She broke the college record for most points ever scored by a college athlete regardless of sex. She broke Pete “Pistol” Maravich. Cheryl Swoopes says she doesn’t deserve me listed as the record holder for any of the women’s basketball records because she had five years. She had actually less games than the woman that holds the women’s college records. She was at the school for five years because of Covid but they didn’t play that year. The best thing about this game is the other teams star player taunted her because LSU was going to win the championship. Duke tried to keep her boxed in with a tighter defense she was the one to take the ball for the final seconds of the game. If the player from LSU could get past herself they could improve the WNBA and get viewers like Bird a and Johnson did

WAIT! Pete Maravich could only play 3 college years. Freshmen could not play. AND no 3-point line. He averaged 44 points/game, Clark 28. He averaged 1,222 points per year, Clark 988 per year. Total college games played Maravich 83, Clark 139.
