@@JurgenMiHoff That’s not apart of Angels game. She’s never been a shot blocker. Also, blocks don’t reflect a player’s overall defensive effectiveness. Good defense encompasses various skills, including on-ball defense, help defense, and positioning, none of which are directly measured by blocks. Reese is one of the most versatile defenders in the league, effectively guarding positions 1 through 5. Although she doesn’t block many shots, she plays smart, positionally aware defense and consistently contests shots. She remains the Sky’s defensive anchor and ranks in the Top 20 for most defensive metrics. The Sky are 13 points better defensively with her on the floor, and before Cardoso’s return, they were over 16 points better with Angel on defense. While her performance has dipped slightly due to adjusting to playing with Cardoso, she’s still elite. Reese fills many defensive gaps for her team, making her role comparable to Clark’s in terms of workload. Clark may have more offensive responsibilities, but Reese contributes significantly on defense and remains heavily involved offensively by setting screens, moving the ball, and scoring efficiently.

Double doubles (points/rebounds) don't mean squat for a big in a girl's game. Reese was 4-16 in shooting, so how many cheap rebounds did she get off her 12 missed shots. In addition, most of her 12 misses were off short shots, work on your shot girl! So she had 16 shots and 16 rebounds (several offensive) and only makes 4 baskets. G How is that possible?

Clark: 323 pts, 113 reb, 138 ast, 27 stl, 17 blk Reese: 226 pts 194 reb, 32 ast, 26 stl, 2 blk Reese Clark leads her in every category except for rebounds. She has 100 more points and 100 more assists. And Clark is 2-1 against Reese. This isn’t DEI, Clark is the clear winner.

ROTY should be to the rookie that makes the greatest impact to their respective team. I can’t say that Reese is that for the Sky, as for Caitlin she is CLEARLY the floor general of the Fever. Has anyone watched the video where 99/129 turnovers that CC have been drop passes from teammates. 😮😮😮

Reese’s rebounds help the sky just like Clarks assist help the Fever. Reese is there to rebound and Clark is there to score, so which lady is performing her role better? Although some passes are good, a lot of them shouldn’t be thrown considering females don’t finish like their male counterparts, nor do they have the height to finish. Great IQ but bad choices for a lot of those passes!

Caitlin Clark is a much better well around basketball player than Angel Reese and continues to impact and improves her game every single game. Angel Reese is an average player, let’s be honest. Props for her continuous double, double streak but she’s far inferior to Clark when it comes to talent and impacting the game. Clark is a no brainer for 2024 ROTY. 👑🌟

Better all-around? CC couldn't guard a stick. She's near the bottom in defensive ratings. The steals and blocks she does get is when she gives weak-side help and the player can't see her coming. Why doesn't CC show us what she can do in the post against bigger players if she is so much better all-around? Get real. You newbies need to learn basketball.

CC struggles with on-ball defense, lacks ball-handling skills, and her mid-range shot is almost nonexistent. She's not quick off the dribble, her turnovers are problematic, and she isn't fast or physical enough. She also has difficulty handling ball pressure and creating her own shot without a screen or push-off.

Both need to win Rookie of the year both have been breaking records, both have been getting double doubles. Both have been play excellent at their positions as rookies . Both are starters. I can't see it no other way, either you like shooting or you like defense and rebounds, your choice but facts still remain they both are doing great at this point unless one of them starts doing horrible then this will change but for now both get the rookie of the year in my book, both are important players for their teams , it's too balanced at this point to choose one rookie. This is will be exciting to see if both win the award , this will also bring even more attention to the league because these are two loved players.

Whe can talk about stats all day long, but impact matters. The Fever never made the playoffs the last 5 seasons, the Sky always did, and currently the Fever are in the playoffs ahead of Chicago. Clark is clearly a better overall player than Reese, that's just facts. Anyone who says otherwise can't claim to be impartial. Some people might not like her which is fine, but feelings are a thing, facts are another.

The Fever won't make the playoffs. You can take that to the bank. They beat Phoenix. Big deal. The lynx smoked them and the Sparks almost beat them. CC turns the ball over too much for the Fever to beat the good teams. Look at what Mcloud did yesterday: 7 assists with 0 turnovers. The Aces, Liberty and Lynx will all bury the Fever here soon and show the CC fan base where this team truly is. The Storm game apparently they've forgotten.

Caitlin has a lot of turnovers, because her team can't catch and she is the primary playmaker for her team. Alyssa Smith is second in turnovers and she's an MVP candidate.

Angel Reese has broken a WNBA record with 10 straight double doubles and if I’m not mistaken, she is second in the league in rebounds. I’m not sure you’all are really thinking, because if you were you would understand that Angel is the rookie that’s breaking WNBA league records. That alone, separates her from the other rookies, including Caitlin.

There are many contrasts between the two, many of them black and white. Reese and the Sky appear more focused on padding stats then winning games. Meanwhile the Fever coach benched Clark stopping her from being the first rookie in the history of the WNBA to get a triple double (the player/guard subbed in for Clark in that final minute grabbed two rebounds) Isiah Thomas did an interview when the Pistons were chasing a repeat back in 1989/90 where he spoke of challenges for a team to repeat. He mentioned stat padding and how some players would not help on defense and/or try to block a shot but rather stay in position to get a rebound from a miss. Then when contract negotiations came around the player could say "Hey we only won twenty games this season but I averaged 22 rebounds" Reese is having an outstanding rookie season but her team is losing often close games where helping a team mate instead of positioning for a rebound can be the difference between winning and losing.

ROTY is a tight race IMO - on paper AR wins, but considering CC has received unprecedented defense as a rookie could be taken into consideration. Maybe it will come down to which team makes the playoffs?

How can ROY be tied? 1 assist = 2 rebounds. Reese's outstanding stat is rebounding , however Clark is the number one guard rebounder in the league. Isn't the difference between their rebounds something like four? Clark leads in points. More importantly the entire offense, when it's working, runs through Clark. Most importantly Clark has many more assists and assists are twice as valuable as rebounds. Rebounds lead to a potential exchange in points, whereas assists lead to points. Finally assists require more skill and a great assist maker shifts the entire defense of opponents. Think of the value difference between Magic Johnson (or John Stockton, Steve Nash) and Dennis Rodman.

Double-double is a contrived stat. It's no different than 15-5-5 or 20-10. Make up your own and see who fits. There's a mainstream bias associated with Double-double, and more often than not for good. But context is definitely needed. And again, just because sometimes is repeated more often doesn't make it better. Reese has needed to take her team's final shots in the last minute in 4 games now during this streak. If that's not staged enough, she is dead-last in FG% at her position This has enabled her to shoot hilariously bad and/or get her shot blocked, but pad offensive rebounding stats. She's an absolute nightmare with the ball. To say she has no footwork would be the understatement of the century. Moreover, she gets basically nothing to go with her MOSTLY weak double-doubles. Getting 2 assists is a major feat for her Caitlin on the other hand does it all. She, too, is breaking records, but for fastest to reach every milestone in not just 1 or 2 areas, but 3 and 4. Her ONLY infirmity are her TOs, but that's padded, objective, by her teammates having terrible hands. Contrast this with Reese being able to pad her number's after a bad play.. Both players' D had been up and down, with CC steadily improving by holding her assignments now to under 10 pts routinely. All we have to do is look at their overall numbers without each's contrived stat domination. Clark is a better scorer, passer, is better rebounding than Angel is passing, both are dead even in the steals department, and Caitlin has 0.9 BPG whereas Reese has 2 total blocks all season Caitlin is the better player, and is the ROTY.

This hype for Reese as Rookie of the Year is pure reverse racism. Reese is a footnote to the Caitlin Clark story, the hype for her is purely because she is black and Clark is white. Angel is awkward, can't run, jump, dribble, shoot, succeeds only by being 6'3" and throwing her weight around. Double-double points and rebounds should be worthy of mention for a big only when one doesn't do it! No one comes to see that. Clark is highly skilled, the best (and practically only) logo-distance shooter in the W, averaging 40+% on shots of 30+ feet. Third in assists and would be first if not for all the dropped passes! Her teammates are the ones making the shots. Her passes are just passes unless her teammates cash in and most of her assists aren't easy layups off of some dazzling pass. Its Boston putting on a move or Mitchell burying a three. Clark shot 4-14 and was outscored by a 42 year-old woman. If her teammates didn't do what they did, the Fever would have lost.

She never was... One incident was extrapolated into being the norm. She threw an elbow and talked trash to a vet, and the vet got her back. Was it a dirty play, yes. Reese literally got knocked out the air by Alyssa Thomas. Not sure what Reese did, but Thomas felt the need to get her back. Was it a dirty play, yes. That type of stuff happens in sports. Is it right, in most case, no, but it happens in the heat of competitive and will continue to happen. Outside of that, tough defense and hard screens is not attacking anybody, that is a part of the game.

It wasn't just one play either, there're whole reels out there people put together. Couple that with the "one bad play" that happened to CC that "just happens" that same play saw Reese who jump off the bench cheering for that Kennedy assault? Not sure what to call it... it wasn't a basketball play. Just demonstrates how lacking in character Reese is. I am also interested in now seeing CC's teammates making the the standard move we all learned in pee wee's about helping up our teammates. Rookies have it tough as they attempt to prove that they belong. Thomas almost gave Reese a concussion, and I am sure other rookies are receiving their welcome to the WNBA moments. People who never watched the WNBA, called Caitlin Clark the GOAT of the WNBA before she played a professional game. So do vets play a little tougher defense on her, probably, She has to prove she is built for. Caitlin Clark was dominating college, she's white and the majority of the country is white, so it only makes senses for many to gravitate toward her. That's how humans are socialized. It's similar to many African Americans only paid attention to golf because of Tiger or tennis because of the Williams sisters. It has been many amazing WNBA players, from Robo Lobo, Sue Bird, Ella Delle Donne, and Maya Moore to Kelsy Plum, Sabrina Ionescu, Brianna Stewart, Aja Wilson. They could not garner much attention because networks were not going out of their way to show women's basketball. Clark just came along at the right time. Unlike the past, her skills were able to be placed on full display. If she was born two years earlier, she would have missed this current wave. The honest and productive exchange is appreciated.
