I love the idea of Pearl rapping to Tartar, because it means instead of charging her special by jumping or warming up her voice she just couldn’t resist the chance to get on the mic and call him out directly and that’s very on brand for her in my opinion.

it baffles me how intense splatoons lore is. Splatoon 1 had us in an oblivious “inklings are good octoling bad” headspace, with SOME thought that “hey maybe octolings aren’t all bad” Then splatoon 2 further expanded on that idea, but making the seemingly black/white conflict way more grey with the addition of Marina, an octoling, as an idol. Octo Expansion finally broke the camel’s back and showed us the life of the Octarians, how they were raised, their side of the story, and the path to the light. All cumulating in an event that brought together both species, inklings and octolings, from a century long separation over a common enemy and realizing that “hey the other side isn’t as bad as we were told to believe”. Then in Splatoon 3’s return of the mammalians we had a similar story just with the Salmonaids. And while that issue still hasn’t been resolved, the core problem (Mr.Grizz) WAS stopped in a unification of all 3 species to stop Mr.Grizz from destroying the world. The problem of Egg Hunting hasn’t been solved, but Splatoon 3 paved the way for a future Singleplayer campaign to fully solve it. (MAJOR lore spoilers for side order by the way, be weary.) And now, in side order we are seeing the ramifications of a united inkling and octoling world. We see the reunification process unfold infront of our eyes and the backlash from it. It’s said that why Order went haywire in the storymode was because the octoling devs who helped marina were reluctant to change. They didn’t want to lose their current selves. Side Order is about a reluctance to conformity and a loss of the Octoling Culture, which is why the devs were reluctant to conform in fears of their culture being outshadowed by the inkling’s culture. Splatoon, a funny colored ink shooting multiplayer game, showing a story to THIS magnitude stretching different games and YEARS is crazy to me.

2:13 I love the fact Marina has the line "Eyes on me" It kinda feels like she's trying to distract the enemy. Since both you and Pearl need time to get your work done, and especially Pearl who, if the splat game play can be used as an example of what they have to do outside of game mechanics to charge a special, is pretty noticeable and may be able to be countered or deflected. Just another reason to love Marina.

To me, the part that says “Follow the power” (2:24) sounds more like “Fly Octo Fly”. Which would make more sense, considering that that’s the name of the song.

This video ist still peak 5 years later. The lyrics tell the suspense of the story so well and fit incredibly with the gibberish. When the last minute starts playing, I get goosebumps everytime. The video is edited so good, you can feel "the world's at stake!" excitement in the climax and I can't get enough of that. Easier said: it's perfect.

It takes ebb and flow, a great splatoon song used in splatfests, and the victory theme in octo expansion, a catchy little jingle that is reminiscent of the 80s, and combines them to make a great song that pumps you up, while also feeling appropriate for a battle against a vapor wave statue fight.
