I have lived alone longer than I have lived with someone, and I LOVE being alone! I do work on a college campus, so I get that constant interaction during the day with co-workers and students, so it is soooo very nice to come home at the end of the day to a nice, quiet house that is all mine. I can do whatever I want. I usually have the TV going, but I love being able to turn it off and just be silent whenever I want. You can't really get that time when you have roommates. I don't always love being single, but I do love my home being my own.

I've lived with roommates in college where we shared the same room, I've lived with a suitemate in college where we shared the same bathroom/kitchen, I've lived in the same suite in college by myself after my suitemate graduated, and now I live with two roommates in my first apartment. And honestly, I kind of enjoyed living alone in my suite the most because I'm a very clean person which has made it hard to live with other people because everyone is messy to me.

Im 32 years old and I would say from age 24-26 I've saved for a down payment while living with parents. Since moving out I've always lived alone and really really enjoyed. -I have a balanced social life -I enjoy recharging after a long week/day at work -I love the feeling of freedom -I hate small talk -Sometime I feel like doing nothing all weekend(this is hard to do when you live with others judging you) -I find it easier to get stuff done

I really think it’s important for women to live alone at least once in their life... so many people stay in unhealthy domestic situations because they’re afraid of having to deal with everything themselves, and I think that’s such a shame. Women, embrace the opportunity to be financially independent for a period of time, learn to budget on your own, have an emergency fund, learn to cook, learn to be resourceful. It’s so worth it to have that concrete experience to fall back on just in case you ever need to change your living situation suddenly at some point.

I relate so much to this! Since moving to Canada i’ve lived with a host family, a landlady, and a housemate. The last two they were mostly not at home and so I’ve unintentionally lived alone without meaning to. But now I’m thinking about getting my own place. I like how you mentioned having the freedom to create and film videos because those are also factors for me. I also appreciate how you mentioned that youre worried about isolating yourself too much as this is my concern too, so your advice of having intentional, scheduled social time helps!

I dont live alone, but my roommate and I use separate bathrooms. There was a spider in my shower in the far corner, too far for me to reach anyway. I don't like killing any creature unless they are a threat to me in my home, then it's just instinct. I made a deal with him: you stay in your corner and I'll stay in mine, and I won't kill you. Well he listened...for about a month. He got bigger, and one day he started coming closer and closer. I told him "we made a deal!" and I swear he looked at me before dropping down closer. That spider was dead in a matter of seconds LOL

Could you do a video on how to make a cleaning/chores routine and how to stick to it? I’ve lived alone for 4 years but it’s still my biggest struggle 😭 Also my one tip in addition to what you said (especially the leave the house every day, that’s a really good one that I try to always do so I don’t go crazy and my mental health doesn’t plummet) is that you should have all the basic medicine you would need in case you get ill. I got the flu and was sick for a week last year and didn’t have a thermometer/ anything to lower the fever, I did not have a good time 😅😅

I'm currently in my final year of University (in England) and I live on my own. To start with, the loneliness was a bit of a challenge. However, as I've gotten used to it, I now totally love it. I really relate to what you were saying about it helping your centre in your relationships and connections with other people. It's also really nice to be able to decide when I want to socialise and when I want to get my head down and study. I'm actually a HUGE extrovert and so have a tendency to over-commit socially. Living on my own forces me to take time out so that that doesn't happen. I'd recommend at least trying it to everyone!

I kind of went the other way around - when I moved out of my parents house for university I started living on my own right away, which I loved at first but then found out I would feel lonely and sad very easily, so this year I started having roommates so that I would at least have people around the house and stuff. It is an adjustment, the opposite of yours with now being alone. I have to get used to other people things lying around, noise in the morning or at night when I want to sleep, sharing a bathroom etc. I haven't quite decided if I like it or not though

i’m currently in my first year of university, and i’ve stayed in a single room in my university’s dorm during my first semester. was initially a little bummed out i was gonna be living alone in a single room, but i actually really enjoyed having my own space and the freedom to do anything i wanted to do at any time (i study really late into the night and have occasional breakdowns from time to time HAHA). i’m continuing my stay in the same room for the rest of my first year, and moving forward i think i’ll continue staying in a single room (instead of a double room) if i choose to continue staying in dorm! also,, the bugs are definitely the WORST part of living alone... my own way of dealing with them is having some kind of book/paper/magazine that you can whack them with - the bigger the better, since you have a bigger chance of hitting them. i know it’s cruel and some people would rather not kill the bugs, but i’m sorry bud, we can’t live together. u-u

I`m in college and living alone in China actually. Online shopping becomes your best friend in here! You need to find coupons and buy everything in bulk. When the stuff that you use daily runs out, and you go out to buy you actually start to feel like an adult. I was always cleaning and cooking when i was living with my parents, that didn`t change at all but eating alone feels weird some time to time. Also living alone makes you stay at home, so i try to go outside, run or ride my bicycle around the campus or sometimes i go out to eat. Every Friday there`s a language club that I go and it feels nice. My only advice is just to be careful and make local friends! 加油!祝大家好运!

I live with my brother and a roommate so luckily I still have someone familiar around and not just strangers. I am also a student and hang out with friends from school but last winter break when all my friends were gone I experienced what loneliness feels like. I am normally very independent and like my alone time however I felt a bit of depression for the first time in my life. I felt sad continuously and didn't have a real reason for it, but I was able to identify the root of my loneliness and make concrete efforts to pull myself back up and be happy again. So now I know more about my social needs and make sure to have more balance in my life!

love vacuuming bugs up and then I try to find lots of dust to suck up after to make sure they hopefully don't escape the vacuum. Also that was a stink bug, they are the worst and scary. I vacuumed a bunch of those at my last apartment. I liked living alone and being independent. I had been doing the roommate thing for years, but then in July 2019 finally moved into my own apartment. It was def a hard transition for me. A lot of sleepiness nights worrying if I can do this and huge feeling of lonely ness. What sucks is .... just when I starting coming around getting comfortable living a lone, Covid shutdown hit and social life paused. Made miss having a roommate just for someone to live with and bond with over this quarantine bullshit.

Living alone is worth every penny. Having your own space and true privacy is so important. Also, there's a security and satisfaction to be gained knowing that you can be self-sufficient and take care of yourself when the chips are down. I've been living alone for 14 years. My tips are...1. Always have a baseball bat. You never know when you need it. 2. You get a chance to get to know yourself better. There's always self love and care, when you're home alone. 3. You get into a better routine. Scheduling is a lot easier. 4. You have a place to go to when you need to recharge. If you're not a people person, you at least have a place to call your own. 5. You can decorate your home the way you want.

Hi Caitlin! Found your channel because I **might** attend Rotman School of Management this fall! Do you have any tips for international students like maybe how much an average apartment near UofT costs, fave hangout spots, etc! Hope you're having a blast xoxo

I'm considering to move out of my parent's house and watching you made me think that it's time, but at the same time, I feel really scared to be alone all the time. A January I planned that I wanted to move out this month but then corona happened and I'm now I feel like I don't know if I should wait till coming back to the office and then move out or do it now.

I love this video! I still love with my parents currently, but hoping to move out on my own by next August/September! As a follow up to this video, would you be interested in making a video listing things you might need when you're moving out for the first time, like what are the most important items to have right off the bat

I'm Italian and now, in my area, this is the perfect time/season for that type of bugs (I think they're called "shield bugs" in English (sort of?)): it doesn't matter how we live, it doesn't matter that we have moquito nets on every windows...they're always find a way into the house XD We find at least a couple every day, while outside there are plenty of them D: But I live almost in the countryside, so I think it's a normal thing XD I've not fear of bugs but since we dry our laundry outside, on our balcony, it might happen to find a bug inside a sock or a tshirt and feel this little crawling on you ...

I've only ever lived with family (I live in California lol, it's hard to make enough to live on your own), mostly because I'm still in college and will be for another 6 years. But I recently moved out of my dads house because my grandma is closer and I can help take care of her, and my dad is. Not. Taking. It. Well. Everytime I visit him, he keeps asking if I need money, or if I need anything (like contacts or school books), and everytime he says hi/bye he's always kinda clingy and acting like we may never see each other again

Hello! I've just graduated out of high school actually, but I'm most likely gonna go abroad for studying and possibly for working & settling down too. My fear with living alone later is the safety and security since there won't be another person checking in on you, noticing you're gone, etc. Is my fear actually a significant part of living alone, or am I just overthinking things? 😅

That bug is called bärfis in Swedish, which if you do a direct translation to English means berryfart. Feeling the bug pain, though. Creepy crawlies are NOT funny. Specially spiders...

You're vegetarian but your solution to encountering spiders is to vacuum them up? What kind of vegetarian are you? It's so disappointing you'd chose to kill a spider over having compassion. FYI, dangerous spiders to humans in Ontario are extremely rare, most of them are harmless. Especially house spiders
