Calçada de Alpajares / Calçada dos Mouros / Calçada do Diabo
Medieval path, perhaps from the 1st dynasty, important until the beginning of the 20th century. XX (before the roads of the Estado Novo). It would link the lands of Miranda, to the north, to the area of Ribacôa, to the south. The route would be closer to the Douro River, up to Freixo de Espada à Cinta. From here, head towards the Poiares mountain range and the village of the same name. From Poiares it would follow an east-west direction and then north-south, roughly speaking, until it reached Monte de São Paulo. From here, it would descend in a zigzag pattern until it reached the Brita stream and continue until it entered the valley of the Mosteiro stream, following its left bank until crossing an old bridge further down, the Devil's bridge. Along the right bank of the stream, it would progressively move away from its mouth and follow a path on the bank of the Douro until arriving in front of Barca de Alva, where the crossing would be made by an old barge. Also known as Calçada dos Mouros or Diabo, currently, there is only a small section left, about 1 km long, paved with pebbles from the river and pieces of schist, which connects Monte de São Paulo to the Ribeira do Brita, and which corresponds to one of the sectors of the footpath in the valley of Ribeira do Mosteiro.
