Hello all, I would like to share my experience of my calcaneus comminuted fracture that happened on 30th October 23, early morning as i have slipped from the wall which is in the 2nd floor and landed on ground floor for which my left calcaneus got fractured. I had a delay to surgery as their was a slight swelling appeared on my leg. So after 10days i had my ORIF surgery done on 18th November 23, Postoperative of 2nd week stitches have been removed, then on 3rd week K- wire removal has been done. Present post op i am on my 5th week and am still waiting for my recovery to resume back to my work place. I don't know more how long does it take time for me but as Dr's suggested that ill be able to recover within 3 to 4 months. Hoping for the quick recovery. Keep praying for me. Thank you. I hope this is a helpful message to everyone. Most important medicine is to have Patience within yourself.

I fell of a latter a few months ago and my food hurts really bad still. Had an MRI and the doctor told me I needed surgery. I dint go to get it done and about 60% of the pain has gone away now. I still cant run though or hop down from a short distance and land on the foot. This video helped me visualize what possibly happened and diagnose the complication. I hope it completely heals up without needing the surgery. Its been about 5 months now though :(

Dude, I hate to say it, but you are only delaying the inevitable. My swelling Knee down was SO bad for 6 weeks. They couldn't do surgery until 7th week. I tried to play it off too, but ended up needing subtalar joint fused, 5cm of allograft. 2 giant screws up thru my heel.

Thank you so much for making this video. I had a calcaneal osteotomy along with other procedures to the foot. I am almost a year post op but still have pain stiffness and swelling. This video helped me a lot with perspective of the anatomy and surgical procedures affecting the heal. Thank you 🙏🏼

how do you feel now ?

@@dannyfernandez2503 I still have some issues with it and I’m just at the 2 year mark. I think my issues are related to the hardware so I may need to get them removed by a second operation. For me, some days the foot feels mostly normal but others lots of stiffness, mild swelling and pain. It’s a lot to put the foot through since our weight will always be impacting it. I don’t regret having the surgery, I had no choice but as of now it seems as though I traded some problems in for other problems. In my case, it hasn’t been so simple as the dr’s stated. Although I knew it would be a long hard recovery they said 1 year post op everything would be great and I’d be out running marathons. Definitely not the case.

@@dannyfernandez2503 basically I had an accessory navicular bone since I was 11 years old. That’s when it started to give me pain like a twisted ankle. After many years it was causing the structure of my foot to collapse and causing a lot of pain. I tried to avoid surgery but the issues with the foot progressed over a period of 18 years and started to cause too much damage from living with the abnormality. Fixing the navicular issue is much more simple but they said they had to do the osteotomy to restore the arch and if I didn’t do that I would likely have ongoing issues and need additional surgery down the line. I didn’t want to do the osteotomy due to the involved recovery but I went ahead with it in hopes of gaining a normal foot again and avoiding any additional surgery.

@@isabella06790 thank you for your explanation,I will certainly have to have a calcaneum osteotomy soon. I wish you the best if case you remove the hardware

Thank you for the knowledge. I'm still recovering about two years after my injury waiting for a second and third operation. I fell about 35ft off a ledge so the calcaneus got extremeley shattered and burst into loads and loads of fragments. I've had a subtalar fusion (arthrodesis) but still struggling with pain and stiffness. The surgeon said he is going to try and make me pain-free, obviously I'd love if he could get my feet how they once were but I think my feet have been changed forever after what's happened.

Are you walking after how many days
@adamryan6915
@adamryan6915 Жыл бұрын
@@brotherhood4694 Hi, I am walking, I had to go through 6 weeks non weightbearing and then several months of rehabilitation but eventually I got back to walking about 3000 - 9000 steps a day. The rehab was quite difficult as I had to work on both feet at the same time so literally learning how to walk again. I'm hoping in time, the surgeon can give me full range of motion but I'm not sure at the moment. I know these next two operations are just to try and make me pain-free. And all of that was early 2021 so by July 2021 I was walking relatively well. But, I just keep getting better now. :)

@STEM Hi, I'm doing ok, thank you for asking. I'm currently still waiting for my second and third operations. The NHS surgery waiting times are quite bad at the moment over in the UK due to how bad the economy currently is over here. But just trying my best to distract myself from the pain and things. Hope your doing ok and hope the pain isn't too bad. Wishing you all the best in your recovery, stay strong my friend! :)

Hi, I fell from about 30ft and completely shattered my heel and also the knee on my other leg! This was in August so I'm 8months down the line... I hear 2 years is the going rate for this sort of recovery, I still walk with a lot of pain in my heal and wondered if the subtular fusion operation would make any sort of difference to the pain you get when walking
