Calcaneus fracture with extension to the subtalar joint. I am 5 months out now from surgery, pretty traumatic injury I sustained while mountain biking on March 29, 2021.
Undergone a procedure where a metal plate and 7 screws where placed on my heel bone.

@@brotherhood4694 I just had the surgery done that I should have had at the beginning one year ago. It is now 1 week after the surgery and now the surgical pain is just about subsided. I now have to wait another 5 weeks before I can attempt to put any amount of weight on it. Let me just emphasize that this should have been done at the time of the accident but I chose not to have surgery at that time.

sorry to hear that. Reason y I posted this video was to least show folks like u and i who experienced this type of injury and know that it does get better, that you will heal. It does takes time, especially depending on the severity of the injury. Just be patient with it, and follow thru after (surgery- if you are going through with it) with your PT- helps a ton. @@jimmyb4956 sorry to hear that- yeah this type of injury is pretty traumatic- i felt the same exact way as you’re going through right now- one of the reason why I stopped reading blogs and treads on the web- nothing but the “doom and gloom” scenario’s. But you’ll get through this, it does get better, it just takes time. As for me, i started riding again, transitioned from mountain biking to road/gravel riding, but as of 3 weeks ago I finally got back riding mtb- felt amazing, though now I am more selective and a lot more careful when I ride. Movement on my injured foot is not the same as my normal foot- I can’t torque my left foot all the way inwards like my right foot, but as far as mobility, it’s just fine, able to do things that I did prior to the injury. Main thing is to follow through with your PT as soon as you’re able to. Best of luck 🤙

sorry to hear that, it’s been about a year and a half for me now since my injury and I can say I’m pretty much pain free, I still do get soreness every now and then if I am on my feet for a long period of time but for the most part I’m ok. What type of fracture you sustained with your injury, what steps and procedures did your doctor have you do? All thing said, physical therapy plays a major role in your recovery process. I would consult to maybe different physician and perhaps do another run with your X-rays to really determine what’s going on and why you’re still in pain after 2 years. I myself had 3 doctors that look me up. Best of luck to you 🙏 and hope you get better soon.

sorry to hear that- think it also depends on the severity of your injury- I myself- took about 7 months I think to get going again then about nearly 9 months to get back to work. So during those periods- I was still getting a lot of discomfort from walking, and still not able to run or get back to mountain biking- but I just learned to ignore and deal with the moderate pain and discomfort that I was still experiencing- eventually, slowly, it gotten better- it does takes a long while to be somewhat normal again- this is a pretty traumatic injury- also, the main thing that really helped me a ton was my physical therapy sessions, I was constantly on it- never missed a day, even if I didn’t have any appointments I was on it at my house- or when I am out and about- cause prior to me getting hurt- I was a pretty active fella- I mountain bike and hike and jog a lot- so I think PT helped me a lot- I was constantly moving my foot and exercising quite a bit- but not over doing it. so if anything- it’ll be the PT sessions that will really help you a ton- have you gotten back with your doctors and consulted back to them? I went back quite a few times- just so they can diagnose me after and done X-rays again- to make sure my heel bone was healing properly- shoe insoles are a biggie too- find a proper insoles that you can insert in your regular shoes- hope I answered your questions- hope that you heel and get back on track - 🤙
