PROBLEM 1.11
The beam supports the distributed load shown. Determine the resulting internal loads on the cross sections passing through points D and E. Assume that the reactions at supports A and B are vertical.
First of all, we must make the free-body diagram (dcl), that is, schematically represent all the forces acting on the beam, such as: the resulting forces generated by the uniformly distributed rectangular and triangular load (important to identify their locations on the beam), and the reaction on supports A and B.
Once this is done, the equilibrium equations are applied to determine the reactions in the supports.
Very well, now the section method is applied, that is, a "cut" is made at the points D and E on the beam and the equilibrium equations are again applied to determine the resulting internal forces located at these points.
