Hey from 2022. It's been a decade since this was posted, but you've saved my buns at university. These lectures are brilliant. My Calc I prof acts like she doesn't even want to be there and makes all of these concepts so convoluted and unnecessarily difficult. I appreciate how you break everything down in easy to digest bites. It's amazing. I hope you're still teaching out there because mathematics sorely needs teachers who genuinely love helping others learn! Many thanks.

All my professor says is "it is not rocket science" then he proceeds to not explain. He repeats that over and over again for about one hour and ends class. Mind you, it is a 3 hours lecture.

I HAVE NEVER SEEN A MATHEMATICS TEACHER BETTER THAN HIM! I have been in this field for 40+ years. I am a maths teacher myself and, I must confess, he is a million times better than me. THREE REASONS WHY HE IS AT SUCH A HIGH POSITION OF EXCELLENCE: 1---------- Slow pace of progress 2----------Not skipping any step and Good explanation of all the necessary steps. 3---------- Making sure explicitly if everyone is on board.

+Haneef Qaazi the future of education is online.. imagine how accessible it would become for everyone.. you would only need to pay a fraction of what you would pay for a full-time, on campus course...Of course, there are some degrees which do require a full-time, on campus course, like medicine or chemistry, but everything else could be switched to online and distance learning.

A lot of math teachers are obsessed with being formal and super-serious all the time, and they also often somehow give off this vibe that they are invincible in math and do everything perfect like robots, and this can easily make math feel boring and intimidating. It's much cooler when math teachers are relaxed and get to the point, and also explicitly admit making mistakes, kind of like "see, I'm human, I make mistakes".

As a calculus 1 students that haven't touch math in 2+ years. Professor Leonard, Khan Academy, blackpenredpen and Organic Tutor is the combo to go for pretty much anyone. I have a terrible calculus professor that is all about plug in numbers in formula and solve. Professor Leonard for lecture Khan Academy for simplify lecture/concepts Organic chemistry tutor for how to the work. blackpenredpen is great for reviewing everything. When do all that, go read your calculus book, you will understand what the book means. Then finally do as many questions as you can in the book Saving lives in 2023.

Late comment, but for anybody stuck or confused at 2:52:00 when Prof. Leonard says half angle identity and replaces cos(1/2pi -x) with sin(x) I believe he misspoke and meant to say Cofunction identity. Thanks to @Donovan Keating for pointing me in the right direction... To aid everyone else, I'll include the Cofunction Formulas here: sin(1/2pi -x) = cos(x) cos(1/2pi -x) = sin(x) csc(1/2pi -x) = sec(x) sec(1/2pi -x) = csc(x) tan(1/2pi -x) = cot(x) cot(1/2pi -x) = tan(x)

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I switched out of my first calculus class this semester because the professor didn't teach. He expected us to learn everything by reading a textbook. The professor in the class I switched into does teach, but not very well. He dove straight into solving limits without any of the explanation as to what it was or why it mattered. Your videos have given me the pre-cal/trig refresher that I didn't get from my first professor and the understanding of what a limit is that I have yet to receive from my current professor. You will be the reason I pass calculus this semester.

I have a really great teacher at my school, but sometimes, she doesn't show us why do we do the stuff we do. So I like how you constantly remind your students that this is heading to something bigger and show them how does the current piece help us to achieve it :)

Professor, i have just started watching your videos. I am a 45 yr old who is pursuing my bachelors degree in business. I have to say you have the best presentation skills I have ever seen in the mathematics field. I love the way you present the subject sections with extreme detail to explanation. I cant tell you how many classes i have taken in my adult pursuit of various degrees where the instructor was either terrible at presenting the subject or very vague and seemed to skip important steps that you would use as the key for the next section. Not saying they didnt know what they were doing, just that to me, the transfer of knowledge was not presented well. I have just finished watching 1.1 and 1.2 of calculus 1 and i understand more about limits than the entire semester class i took and failed taught me. Kudos to you sir!

Former math major college dropout here. This is fantastic! I'm brushing up on all the stuff that I thought I'd have to let go. Math was definitely a good choice for a major back when I was in school. By far the most interesting and engaging classes I took.
