@@nathanandres5026 Fox and makar are both born 1998! Fox is born in Feb tho so a little bit different but not really, it's like some people think Fox is just way older than these "star kids" in Hughes and Makar but Fox is also young af

Makar was equal in CF% and FF% with Hughes. But he lead in SF%, GF%, xGF%, SCF%, HDCF%, MDCF%, MDGF%, LDGF%. Hughes lead in HDGF% and LDCF%. Makar also had more hits and a better takeaway/giveaway ratio and blocked shots. Makar also started his shift more in the dzone. I don’t wanna head “Hughes is a 2way”. They are both offensive dmen and Makar was better defensively

His stats may look like he's better defensively but Makar was also in a sheltered role playing against 2nd and 3rd line pairings as Erik Johnsons pairing took on the best forward match ups where as Hughes was put in a shut down role all season against teams #1 match ups as he played alongside Chris Tanev the Canucks Defensive Defenseman. You can look at the stats all you want but they don't show how a player was utilized or what competition he was up against.

Crazy how the top 3 defenseman in the 2020 calder race are now the best 3 defenseman in the overall league. That's just crazy how they all just dropped in one year.

@@ChelseaFan13 From viewing it peripherally, it seemed like the team had a particularly rough season. Saw EP40 might be training again and the Garland acquisition looks good, so maybe things are on the upswing?

Makar deserves calder he has 3 fewer points then hughes but hughes played 11 more games. Also Makar is a plus 12 compared to quin hughes -12

Avalanches were already playoff team even without Makar but Canucks werent before Hughes was there he had more impact on his team than Makar

I'm an Avs fun but I'd be okay with Hughes taking the Calder. That way Canucks fans can finally feel like they've won something.

Quinn made a bigger impact to his team than Makar did for his. Although, Makar is definitely a VERY good player.

@@jrp908 The avalanche was already a strong team well positioned to make the playoffs. If Makar wasn't on the team, they would still be a powerhouse. Quinn immediately strengthened the Canucks' defense almost dramatically and was a huge factor in getting the Canucks into playoff position
