2008時去左calgary 返工,住係10 ave sw 1st sw, 個時都唔少homeless, 不過好多幾nice “how are you” 乜冇野.

I lived in Calgary for 10 years from 1977, then lived in Vancouver for 10 years and now In Toronto since 1996 and I really like Toronto
East Village.
agree with @paullee7398! what you showed is very common in most metropolitian cities’ downtown. Ppl live in downtown so get used to it and know which aisles to avoid. Just ignore and say no to the ppl who approach you for changes … they usually won‘t bother you. Don’t stereotype but always be alert of your surroundings should be fine. Of course, for those not get use in such environment may feel uncomfortable strolling downtown esp at dark.

@@CC-en1wm I spend most of my time in NYC. My perspective may be different from people coming from Hong Kong. I love East Village because I can walk to Chinatown for dim sum with the 老華僑, walk to the park to see the Canadian geese and ducks and beavers, or to the trendy restaurants that rival Brooklyn's most trendy places... Even the homeless people: after reading Richard Wagamese' novel "Indian Horse" (which is about how a native boy grew up in a residential school and became an alcoholic and struggled to recover), I feel sorry for them.

Calagry downtown, to be honest,

Shelters are not only for the homeless but for everyone who needs them for a temporary stay such as a woman who suffers domestic violence and has no place to go. Secondly, the homeless don't really bother you at all. They may ask you for a change and if you simply say I don't have a change. They will just walk away.

You’re so B-R-A-V-E 😮 I believe people working in DT are seldom going or staying in those “trouble areas” which is like the other cities in North America.
