Calif. Zephyr in Ft. Morgan on 28MAR2023

Today's California Zephyr #5 arrived in chilly Fort Morgan at 0608 MDT (1 hr. & 4 min. late). Although not plastered in snow and ice as yesterday's train was, this on had been thru some snow east of here. P42s #37 and #84 brought the 7-car train to a stop with car 2 to the station platform for 1 new fare to the sleeper. With the station work safely completed the high ball was given and on a clear signal the Zephyr departed for Denver's Union Station.
There was no owl today but near the end of the video a cousin of Foghorn Leghorn may be heard accompanying the Zephyr as it sounds the horn for a crossing west of Ft. Morgan.

Hi Mike- #5 came in nice & easy today no “woah stop”. You have some snow burr… Nothing like that here- might be in the upper 70s for a few days starting tomarrow. I did get to watch the freight you did- TY!You too be safe & warm

Good morning, Cheryl; Thank you for tuning in as well as the comments. That stop was due to the passenger boarding the dorm/transition/sleeper this morning. And a different operator. Yep. This was a typical springtime snowstorm with some really sloppy wet snow. Unfortunately, the wind decided to redecorate the landscape as the snow was ending. It was 9 F. a train time this morning with a windchill of -5. My ears required that I put my hood in the full up position. Been a long time since I have had to cover the ears. Oh well. Our temps are all over the thermometer over the next week or so. 40s today 30s tomorrow, 60s on Thursday and 30s on Friday. Must be spring in eastern Colorado. And thru it all, the wind will blow. I don't think I moved to Wyoming just seems that way. LOL! YW for the freight (coal) train. Won't be so busy today. Alas. I hope that you have a great Tuesday down there. Morning Mike! Love that Pink to Blue skyline after you panned back to the station before the train arrived. I herd them sound off from home this morning , I dont normally hear it. Hopefully gonna warm up a lil bit to melt all this white stuff we got.. lol kids out of school at noon yesterday and it got messy! Wet and heavy!! stay Warm buddy, I'm Still on the hunt for a car. :(

Good morning, Jay; I thank you for dialing in as well as the comments. That sky did have some color today. I think the wind from the southwest may have carried the sound towards you. For whatever reason, the wind from that direction carries sound better than from other directions. Bummer on the car hunt. Hope something shows up. Hope that you and yours have a great Tuesday. Hi Mike! I agree with James... they don't pay you enough for all you do. Telling people where to stand, or, actually going into the station to get them!! It's blustery here today, too.. although, I think warmer. Nothing new here.. Have a great day! Hope your Mom is doing well. Jean

I've told people where to go before but they didn't go where I told them to go. 😂 Most told me where to go afterwards. LOL! I was surprised that this fella boarded the dorm/sleeper car. Not used to seeing that. So far, we have clear skies and brilliant sunshine already melting the snow and ice left from yesterday. They came in very slowly today - I wonder if they were being cautious after that overshoot last week. Hope you're well - we all have Covid at the moment. At least that means we'll be past it by the time we fly over in 3 weeks!
