End game is to ban all diesels. I remember when you could smoke on airplanes. Then only the back. Then only on the flights longer than 6 hours. Then total ban. Take it a step further: smoking (in Cali) is banned even in outdoor areas where people may walk by. You can smoke all the weed you want, but smoke a cig and you're screwed.

People in the rest of the country should take note: If you don't want California type laws then don't elect California politicians to federal office.

Both my 1991 250 and 2002 2500 HO get 28mpg @ 80mph on the interstate these new trucks get around 14 so you can't tell me that by burning and having to produce and transport twice as much fuel and having to produce and transport DEF in plastic jugs that goes to a landfill and also having to manufacture all of the emissions systems that these vehicle's are friendlier to the environment. Ya you're not going to convince me of that! 2002 was the last year Dodge had their best diesel engine and the start of 2004 was the downturn of diesel engines when they started putting EGR's on them.

The attack on diesels are b.s. My registration renewal is $374 and my smog is $56. WTF?

Same shit we've been dealing with in upstate NY. Mostly farmland and countryside, but they force all the laws from NYC on us. We need separation of state.

What the bureaucrats don't seem to realize. With programs like cash for clunkers or abolishing diesel trucks of a certain age is it those vehicles of a certain age all of them. are cheap to repair. As a mechanic that owns my own business I haven't gone through all the state testing to obtain. A California smog license. I can tell you that most of the Older vehicles the California wants off the road. Usually have high mileage on them which means they are a good investment and the reason that they will not pass emissions Testing is not because of the Emissions numbers that come out of the tailpipe it's because they've been modified Or technology that they were fitted with from the factory no longer works properly. That does not necessarily mean that they're inefficient. You are not allowed to modify them for example if you have an old truck that did not come with a Catalytic converter from the factory and it will not pass smog if you were to put a catalytic converter On that vehicle so that it passed The required emissions . It would be deemed modified and fail missions testing. California wants to send that vehicle to the scrapyard to be recycled Even though that vehicle is viable And has already redeemed itself as far as a carbon footprint goes because it's been on the road for 30 years. There has been relatively no changes in fundamental internal combustion engine design. A healthy well tuned engine. Is a efficient one. Doesn't that just defeat the point. You're not allowed to modify your vehicle to run cleaner to pass State emission standards. So now let's spend a whole lot of money in electricity melting that thing down recycling it to build a whole bunch of cars that will only last 5 to 10 years It's like Using a single use plastic drinking device. Instead of washing one made of glass to be used for years and years to come. California clean air resource board in our government are out too luch. Here's another example if you're a car maybe 5 to 10 years old needs a new catalytic converter. While the ones that are stamped to be sold in California. Are 2 to 3 times the money. Even though it's the exact same one used on vehicles. That are labled with 48 state-federal emissions. 2 to 3 times more expensive for a part number. Is that helping the environment. I think it helps someone's pocket book But definitely not the people. It does not make sense. And as far as diesel trucks And tractors any equipment with particulate filters. The ones that Use def fluid and have to go through a Regen process to burn off all of the collected Soot/ CarbonWhich is always problemacAdd extra costs and inconvenience to the owner and operator of a vehicle that is. I would like to post the question. What difference does it make if you save up all of the material in the particulate filter and then burn it off by injecting D eF an extra diesel via dosing valve to burn off the extra particulates at a very high temperature back into the environment During the Regen process. they want these filters as so they do not release Knox Which is produced by combustion temperatures over 2500°. So their solution is to heated up to that temperature whil it is in the exhaust system then release it into the environment and that way they can say it wasn't produced by the engine. It's an absolute joke. And I have to add that California only has one working nuclear power plant as far as I know the rest of our energy comes from PG burning natural gas so what do you think your electric car runs on it's not 0 emissions. Not even close they're digging up huge pits into destroying natural rainforests On other continents in other countries with children hauling lithium and cobalt out of mines on their back. Everything comes from something. California air resource board Used to pull their head out of that dark space That smells funny.

From 1985 to 1989 I got slammed into California with the USN. I had 67 days of leave on the books and took it prior to my honorable discharge and went to work for an A/C contractor. He offered me half of his business if I would stay. I declined and when I left California I swore I would NEVER go back. And I didn't. It was bad back then and a hundred times worse now.Moved back to NE Texas where we can do what we want, when we want, and I even built a LEGAL outhouse on my rural property. Beats pooping in the woods all day long.

Home remodeling contractor here and bought a 2005 Isuzu NPR years back. Just an absolute workhorse that changed my biz almost immediately. Kept well maintained and is easily parts ready and such easy engine access, it now sits. Likely being sold to a lucky Arizonian soon. But we don't breath Arizona air because the air doesn't cross over borders and stuff. Kills me.

Love how government (federal, state, and local) comes up with regulations in late 2000’s. Government now can say those regulations weren’t good enough. But the people who actually needed them and use them to make a living. Get fu*ked. Thanks government.

I wonder how many bans will get lifted once everything grinds to a halt in California? Hopefully the rest of the USA takes note.

Here in NY, it's the same. Our government is learning from CA. The problem is the fact that the LA, SFO, NYC, etc. Are the ones making the rules and they have no idea what its like to live in a suburban or rural area. Its the narrow minded, ignorant ones who think food comes from a supermarket instead of a farm.

Great video I own a 98 12 valve too and I hate to have to smog it every 2 years. Knowing a 97 has the same engine and no smog. I also live in nor cal. I enjoy my 12 valve every day. If you start a petition to save our diesel here in cali. I will sign it and forward it to many more who will sign up. I enjoy your videos!! Let's make a difference stand up and save our Diesel!!

With your work ethic I’m surprised you could stay in California so long! I just finished a year long move out from a rural property in Washington State, which basically turned into an extension of California in the past few years. Split my time between WY and ID now. Every time I go back to WA/OR it just looks more trashed and the people are nastier.
