The year 2016 has proven to be one great year for California Chrome. It was only a year ago, he had just returned to California to begin training for his big come back. He did not disappoint either, going undefeated all year, and ranked #1 consecutively ever since they started ranking racehorses this year.
This tribute video celebrates California Chrome’s road to Dubai on his way to the Breeder’s Cup Classic. This is a two-part tribute compilation of video clips from various networks; highlighting Chrome’s fantastic journey as the best racehorse in America in 2016.
In this video, California Chrome returns to racing with an impressive training drill going into San Pasqual Stakes. After he wins that victory, Chrome heads to Dubai, where he is put to the challenge in his prep race, running from lane 1, carrying up to 30 pounds more than his opponents. After breezing through that victory, California Chrome goes on to win the Dubai World Cup Championship, in a thrilling and dramatic finale.
After, winning second place last year in the same race, Chrome vindicated his loss to Prince Bishop, by smashing Bishop’s track record in a memorable romp. It was “alchemy, California Chrome turned to gold!”
