Follow along as Jose Uribe, a Northern California Commercial Queen Breeder and Beekeeper, heads to Salinas, California, to meet up with our friends Alvaro and Marilu Acosta of MJ Bee Farms. They are a family-owned and operated honey-producing apiary that pollinates almonds, cherries, and pumpkins.
We chat with them and their two daughters, Jackie and Melinda, at one of their bee yards about MJ’s beekeeping background, family, queen preference, treatments, pollination, and honey.
Next, we swing over to Swank Farms in Hollister, California, and meet up with the owner, Dick Swank. Here we see their bee garden where MJ’s bees reside. MJ also pollinates Swank’s pumpkins; their honey is sold inside the gift shop and is also used in Swank’s beer onsite!
