California Commercial Beekeeper Moving Hives into Almond Pollination

Күн бұрынFollow along as Jose Uribe, a Northern California Commercial Queen Breeder and Beekeeper, heads to Butte County in Northern California to load up a truckload of colonies to place into the almond orchards for the 2023 pollination season. Here, he discovers that his trailer running lights are nonoperational and has to devise a plan B quickly.
Follow him to Williams, California, where he meets up with Brandon Bryant from Bryant Honey to unload the hives. While en route there, Jose passes by a car engulfed in flames. The passengers were ok and exited the vehicle prior to the fire occuring.
Jose heads to Rental Guys the following day to return his trailer that did not have working running lights.

We didn't get a hard freeze and the crop should be ok. We just need warmer weather so the need can fly and pollinate

Hi, I'm getting into beekeeping in lake county CA, and was thinking about getting into orchard pollination when my business gets bigger and I was wondering how many hives you run for pollination? Also, what would you say would be the minimum amount of hives to do pollination work?

We run just over 500. You can start small and get in with a commercial guy to take your bees for pollination. They take a percentage for using their contract but it allows you to grow slowly and comfortable
