it's going awesome he is just turned 5 months old. Weighed right at 75lbs. Really smart and affectionate dogs.

They can never just be content in knowing they "did something good" they have the I ❤️ my rescue bumper sticker and never say my dog when talking about them, it's always rescue... Is it the profit of a breeder that's wrong or just feeling bad for a dog that doesn't even know it's not living with a rescuer.... And a lot of look at me I'm such a good person... How about rescue a black baby and really score some points...smh

I've had an EM myself for ten years. My best buddy. I've watched several of these training videos and shake my head wondering why people wait to do obedience training at 1 1/2 to 2 years? With the EM they are gentle but can be set in their ways by then and are slow to want to change. I started basics with my Sam at 7 weeks old and built on that until he was 2 or so. Is there a reason why people wait? Or is it that the humans are lazy?

Look no further. They are the finest dog I have ever owned. As long as he can live inside with you.... You will not be disappointed. Also, they will stay within the boundaries of your yard. I have owned two and both never left my yard, ever....

If I would like to become a off leash dog trainer how would I go about doing that ?

First teach your dog to pay attention to you. Get a 50 foot leash/rope. Go to a large park and walk the four legs of a large, imaginary square. Walk one leg of the square 100 ' or so and then pause. Pay the dog no mind. Then walk the other leg of the square, completely ignoring the dog. Drag him if you must but don't make eye contact. Pause a couple 2 or 3 minutes at the other corner. Vary the delays. Make the dog focus on you. This will teach it to follow you. Once he is good on the long leash then train him to heel on your left side and work it from there.

Their nature is mellow and they stand their ground vs. chase like a prey dog. My boy bluffs and is more wimpy than anything but, at 7.5 yrs old, he's been pampered and has never been abused. He's adorable and I love him with my whole heart but I have no confidence in him as a protector in an emergency situation. There's not a mean bone in his body.

I'm convinced that getting a pup over 8 weeks old increasingly become a bad deal but they need time with their mama's so too young is not a good thing either. 7 - 8 weeks is the best time frame so that the pup will forget her old life and fully accept their new family. Maybe the only exception is if the pup was loved and socialized properly at their former home. I got my English Mastiff at 5 weeks old and he still nurses on his toys but that's OK. It's part of what makes EZ easy. We just got an Caucasian Mountain dog a month ago. She was 8 weeks old then. I noticed after a week or two I could almost literally see something click where she forgot about her old life and accepted our family as her world. Note, though, I got a second dog known for her protective abilities because my 200 lb English Mastiff may scare someone but he'd hide behind a tulip to avoid confrontation. It's just his nature that I accept and love.

the breed needs to improve get to haw they were working lines need to be bred in know after the war they were almost instinct but be nice to have a English mastiff which you can take for a walk with out draging it back home when it gets tired and out of breath in 5 minutes

The English mastiff is a dying breed, there are so few of them now that they are near the point where they would have to inbreed to keep the bloodlines pure, the breed is banned from crufts for that reason. Soon the English Mastiff will be gone, hes been on our island since prehistory, we had them when we were a tribal people, we had them when the Romans came, they fought in the Colosseum in Rome, they have defended us, our families, our properties and our livelihoods for thousands of years, he is the King of Dogs, progenitor of them all, it will be a national disgrace if they become extinct.

lady you dont treat mastiffs like boarder collies with commands they do their own thing . they are smart he knows he could shake you like a toy in the same way a wolf knows you'll never out rank him , he'll just put up with your crap like a trooper.. all training will be dealing with strangers as mastiffs are super protective and want to demolish dodgy looking adult men.
