it makes me appreciate my dad. Yeah, he worked a lot when I was a kid, but since he got weekends, summers, and holidays off, he was always able to spend that time with me and my sister.

S 5 E 7 ~ "Father Knows Bets" ~ October 19, 1996 ~ Sly takes to gambling in order to make up for the attention he doesn't get from his workaholic father, but his habit quickly spirals out of control, much to the concern of his friends. Meanwhile, Tony joins the committee for choosing the recipients of the school's graduation awards.

The weirdest thing brought me here... I haven't seen an episode of the show since its original run 20 + years ago. I thought none of the episodes really stuck with me except the one where the leather jacket guy gets screwed over by the record industry. Then the other night I had a dream where I was in a Peter Engel sitcom style high school and I organised a basketball competition where some Sly type character was obsessively making bets on the outcomes. I googled to see if Sly ever had a gambling problem in California Dreams... And here I am

Wouldn't be allowed now since Sly would be considered "toxic masculinity". And so would Jake. And Sam is an Asian stereotype. And Lorena is a Mexican stereotype. And Tony is a black stereotype. And Tiffani is a blonde stereotype. And Mark is...just there.

Wait, so is Johnny Himalaya a different person each time he's mentioned, or is he literally a famous singer who went to PCH and has a surfboard named after him (or he made one, I dunno)? I always thought they were talking about the singer each time as a kid.
