When we lived in Florida, my wife was stopped for speeding. The officer could see that my wife was very upset, and asked her what was wrong. My wife explained that she had just found out that her mother had died.. The officer let her go with a warning, and the advice to watch her speed. If my wife had been obnoxious to the officer, she would probably have gotten a ticket. By being truthful and respectful, my wife avoided a ticket.

I made the biggest mistake of my life by marrying a Californian woman. I am now a born again divorcee living back in my extremely civilised country, Scotland, and take my word on this, I will never set foot in California ever again.

I have lived in Florida 37 years of my 71 years on the planet. In that time, I've been stopped by Police 3 times. The Officers involved were ALWAYS completely respectful.. I find that returning that respectful attitude reduced 2 possible citations to warnings. The 3rd did end with a citation. I paid the fine because I was guilty of the offense.. Most folks who live in Florida are from out of state. 90% of those folks LOVE Florida and for the same reasons Native residents do. So, don't come to Florida thinking we're a bunch of ignorant people who will echo the talking points from the state you're fleeing from.. KEEP FLORIDA BEAUTIFUL AND DON'T LITTER... That's my vehicle, and I'm in a constitutional carry state. Went into the usual convenience store to get my usual diet coke, and some "nervous Nellie from out of town" saw me with my handgun on my hip and FREAKED OUT, called the cops. He said I was yelling at the clerk and waving my gun around, pointing it AT the clerk. I'm leaving the store and I'm getting into my car to leave and here come several squad cars. They told me to be honest, just tell them what REALLY happened. I swear, i just went in for a COKE! CHECK THE VIDEO! There were several other witnesses that cleared me, but there was one question- "Ma'am, do you have loose shells in your vehicle?" My response was "I've got BOXES of ammo in the vehicle! Ammo for DAYYYYYYS".

I have been pulled over Twice in Florida, and I followed the officer instructions, I was professional and calm. I got the ticket for speeding and paid it. No drama no hassles. No matter the reason, I was always polite with policeman and did what he asked of me. I was never put in handcuffs, never arrested, and never got a ticket. If you treat them with respect, they will treat you with respect.

The officer is not getting emotional by telling her that each day the vehicle sits at the impound. You may have missed it but he first asked if she had someone within 15 minutes to pickup her vehicle and she refused to answer.

In the state of Florida you do have the right to decline to take the breathalyzer test however if you do it is an automatic suspension of your license. I believe that is how it works.

I am living in Florida for 21 years and police stop me twice because one light doesn’t work, never tickles or jail or court.

FL is a conceal carry state, and recently changed the law that you don't need a permit. Yes, you have to inform the police if you have gun. There is a push to make FL an open carry.
