I always love a gold pan "revel". Looks like sand, sand, sand and suddenly, SOMETHING YELLOW. It is also took a little comfort that some guys got some gold and you really didn't. Sometimes gold is all around and nowhere where you look. I went this week to a place where just last week, I got a little gold and a few nice flakes in nearly every pan. This time I brought along folding chair, so I could take breaks and spend more time there. I worked the same EXACT hole I had dug but now, pan after pan after pan was empty. So I moved on and still could not find any large flakes. I sucked up some black sand with maybe a little color in it, brought it home and actually had fun finding tiny little specks of gold with a 10x loupe. Sometimes you see some yellow stuff, sometimes you just enjoy the river and get a tan.

The sink is fed by a natural spring up the hill that never dries up and has great water pressure after a 200' drop.

Good job guys! I say dig deep trenches down to bedrock and sluice everything! Big nuggets in the gravels or on bedrock! I bet when 2 toes was younger he dug a lot of his gold. Love pick and shovel work and watching gravels go through a box! Joe gold

Hi Jerry, The claim is made for camping so you probably did camp there. It has a large flat area that used to have a cabin. There are also trails and places to camp on the other side of the river.
