Australian progressive metal outfit, Caligula's Horse, has forged a deep and lasting connection with fans across the globe with their expansive, eclectic, and fully immersive sound. More so than any other band in the modern progscape, Caligula's Horse combines raw rock power with immense emotional depth. Born out of the societal upheaval of the 2020 pandemic, the band's 6th studio album, 'Charcoal Grace', reckons with the experiences and outcomes of that time and guides listeners toward catharsis. During their interview with Audiotree Host, Psalm One, the band chats about their experiences on tour, their Chicago fanbase, and how Australian burgers compare to American burgers. I don't think they nailed the audio for Jim in this one. The band sounds good and if you listen to Jim, he does too, it just seems to get covered a bit in the parts where the bands is going harder. Some parts sound good though.

Great musicians and great singer but the vocals are mixed way too quiet and can hardly be heard over the band, Same whether live or album. Pity.

Seriously, I think Geddy Lee would acknowledge in bliss. Sam and Jim, if you fricking decide for a style (Bloom in mind) and stop wanting to be less (yes, less for more attention and dough), resurrect the The Tide, the Thief and River's End spirit. For that was an absolutely brilliant concept album. Think of Geddy, Alex and Neil: You have to live up it! You carry the torch, way ahead of the rest, now! Kudos and get busy!

In Contact and Charcoal Grace were both concept albums. The Tide, The Thief & River's End is probably my favourite release of theirs from a composition standpoint, but In Contact is toe-to-toe with it in that regard AND sounds better mix wise. Charcoal Grace is such a cool record too, and probably their most ambitious concept work since formation. I don't think for a second that the C-Horse boys have compromised their artistic vision for "attention and dough" in any way. The fact that they explore different stylings record-to-record cements that for me. They're not afraid to branch out and try things that are left of field. Every second release has been a concept album in one way or another (In Contact was multiple short narratives on one record, how often do we see that?) and whether it's a happy record (Bloom, Rise Radiant) or a sad one (Charcoal Grace, Tide, In Contact), it's ALWAYS decidedly C-Horse. That said, I'd give both my nuts and also my dick and balls and dick and also my balls (and my dick) if I could have a re-mixed/re-recorded Tide again. I know it's a lot of work, but fuck me, it'd be so sick.

Sorry, but Bloom (incl. the vids) was almost embarrassing in the mean (Marigold, Dragonfly and Rust excluded) and I was wondering, who exactly I started endorsing indubitably. Therefore my suspicion and blaming. The higher they climb, the deeper they fall. At least with me... 😅

Just to be sure: I meant masterpiece by the both of you (Jim and Sam). The riffage is out of this world, as are lyrics and intonation. Do not toss the works you will be remembered for decades after you were active into the fire!
