I CAN'T BELIEVE HE WASN'T NOMINATED FOR AN OSCAR. HE WAS INCREDIBLE.

Can he at least get nominated for having to sit through this interview and be so sweet and polite?

I think Michael is such an amazing actor definitely deserves Oscar nominations

Miguel Fernandez I would love to see Joaquin Phoenix and Michael Stuhlbarg play brothers. They look alike and are both very talented!

Absolutely. He's real and exciting to watch.

Michael Stuhlbarg's character was an integral part of the success of this film. His scene with Elio at the end really made the movie. It puts things in perspective and gave Elio the much needed hope and courage to move forward with his life. That is part of what a good parent is supposed to do.

His performance was excellent.

I don't think Elio(the teenage boy) was "struggling with his sexuality".

jambroqc His sexuality was blooming

Jambroqc couldn't agree more. Its about first love that happens to be between 2 males.

he did have a gf and he did have sex with her even when he was falling for a man.
@relax_sketch6 жыл бұрын
Struggling is not the word but Elio is new to these kind of feelings and in the beginning even tries to ridicule Oliver at the table when he talks about the way he says: "Later". I like that we get to see how it slowly evolves into a crush or even love.
@suttree32336 жыл бұрын
Its not a struggle, its heartache, even when Elio is with Oliver (or Oliver with Elio) he's clearly extremely lovesick. Call Me By Your Name might be the most palpable portrait of yearning put to film.

Armie Hammer never said he'd never kissed a man on screen before because he has, he kissed Leonardo DiCaprio in "J. Edgar." So I'm not sure where this information came from but it's not true.

I was thinking the same thing! He had said that what scared him was the nudity that was initially in the script and that he had never done a sex scene before. It's not fair to an actor if someone is making up things that they never said to begin with.
@Rageify6 жыл бұрын
Yes, and not just that, everyone seems to focus on him being scared of the nudity but it's not that. What scared him the most is the the substantial role, the emotional effort and excellence needed to portray the character. He was scared he wouldn't be able to succeed as an actor (the emotional intimacy and vulnerability, as he put it in many interviews).

He was fantastic! Any teenager would pray for that kind of communication with that kind of father.

this interview certainly lacks research on the hosts part (Elio 'struggling', Armie never kissing a man on the screen *cough* Leonardo di Caprio *cough*), but Michael Stuhlbarg seems so nice, funny and father-like, that it is still enjoyable to watch
@DrewShark116 жыл бұрын
I believe that Armie signed on for this film in 2007 or earlier which preceded the 2011 production of J. Edgar.
@tuuliamoors41346 жыл бұрын
Drew Power, definitely not. The rights to the novel were bought at that time (before the novel's 2007 publication). No actor was signed that early on. Luca Guadagnino, who eventually became the director after a long process lasting years, was the person who cast Hammer, and that wasn't many months before they started filming.

Whenever that interviewer guy opened his mouth, bullshit came out every single time. You dont say in front of the actor that his role was small ( even though in the movie it clearly was more than just significant ) & he is a seasoned actor for crying out loud. Again he said absurd thing about tim's character, about his ' troubled sexuality' , WTH !!! I hate when people dont watch the film and then inevitably put the guest on the spot , just for the sake of few minutes of a news segment. # there are round tables for that people.

he deserved an Oscar nomination. The Academy should have at least acknowlegded the possibilty of the exisitence of such a father in this word. Elio's father was the father from the stars.

Michael is Amazing. He was great too. He's an artist like Timothee that's why he is so good. He's not a actor so to speak. He's amazing on stage too.
