After the Mad scene she received a twenty minute ovation and sixteen curtain calls, which it seems, is a record for the Palacio de Bellas Artes. The radio announcer explained that he had to shout to be heard over the demonstration in the auditorium.
Diaz Du-Pond remembers vividly: ‘I am sure that the emotion and the tears that Maria shed in her dressing room after her first Mad scene and after being called to the curtain sixteen times, a record in the history of the Bellas Artes [Theatre], was never repeated.’

1952 - This was the greatest voice the world has ever heard. The real Callas voice. It's simply astonishing in its scale, size and technical mastery.

Even in this early performance her interpretative gifts were pronounced -- one can hear the sadness, the anger, the dementia of the character brought forth in superb style and musicianship. RIP Maria too soon you left us, but left us with a collection of great art. Brava

Such simple orchestration, with Callas’ emotional and silvery vocal driving the entire operatic theme. So much more here than a beautiful voice, her musicality and depth of feeling is unmatched, Callas knew how to become the role like no other.

I DO LOVE Verginia Zeani a lot and I always criticize Callas a lot but Callas' "ugly" sharp voice is better for this scene, it is more nervous, less even and what is the most important thing - Callas more shadows, Zeani sings only beautiful and it is boring sometimes. Callas in 1952 was more terrific than Zeani for me

Le contre-mi est une "cocotte". Callas est la seule à lui conférer un sens dramatique. Il est de mauvais goût chez toutes les autres.

Absolutely, most stunningly illustrated by that aria from ‘Armida’. The first tape of it is one of the most astonishing examples of operatic singing preserved.

Люблю Марію, але у Всесвіті була прекрасна Рената, була Джоан, Монтсеррат, Вікторія, Анна, Міреллочка, і є - Едіточка Груберова - Джільда навіки віків..

Ці перераховані вами дами дозволяли собі фальшиве,або, як кажуть профі,низкопозиційний спів, і тому нездатні були дати зразки інструментального вокалу ,що єдиний здатний передати всю палітру людських відчуттів. Тому тільки Марія Каллас єдина,недосяжна майстриня вокалу,яку на 100% можна назвати взірцем справжнього артистичного оперного співу . І схоже на всі віки,бо рівень запросів "просвітленої" публіки поціновувачів оперного мистецтва валиться катострофічно.А "спрос опрєдєляєт предложениє". Марія Каллас на рівні недосяжності вокального Евереста. Слухайте її записи 52-59 років,як ті ,що вона сама сприймала і пам'ятайте ,що є розквіт і є закат,є хвороби ,що заважають тримати особливо унікальну форму навіть Марії Каллас !!! Доречі її вокальна школа ідеальна для наслідування всім голосам як жиночім,так і чоловічим.
