Correction: Season 5 came out before Magic Railroad, not after! I don’t know how I didn’t realize that, sorry! It doesn’t change what I said in the video though, I still think Season 6 was good!

No, there were some problems after magic railroad. They had a lot less budget for sets (which is why it looks way worse)and now they had to make a season every year to recover from the damages

@@Silverlink28Fair point. I was more so comparing it to the later HIT model seasons, which was probably a mistake on my part. If you compare it to the previous 5 seasons, especially season 5, then I would agree, it's not as good. But the simpler sets remind me of season 1, so maybe that's why it never bothered me!

I just wish they had Derek, BoCo, Class 40 from Bowled Out, Salty, and Splatter and Dodge in Calling All Engines!. They would make the show a bit better. I would've also love to see Spamcan and some of the Other Railway diesels in the Railway Series in the fight scene with the steamies and diesels hitting each other.

For the name “Calling All Engines” it sure does lie to us. Every Engine on Sodor doesn’t appear. Duck, Donald, Douglas, Oliver, Bill, Ben, Murdoch, Arthur & BoCo don’t bother showing up in this.

After Magic Railroad flopped at the box office, she stepped down as her company’s CEO. After that, she did some minor work in season six and seven, before quitting completely. I don’t think she’s done anything in the industry since then.🤔 That was back in 2003.

I'm not a huge fan of Calling all Engines, but between it and Magic Railroad, I do prefer it. Sure Diesel 10 is better in TATMR, but I like how CAE handled Lady better as just part of Thomas' dream and not some god. It is also more focused than Magic Railroad. On top of that, this story could actually work, unlike Magic Railroad which was just a bad idea from the very start

Interesting point. It depends on personal preference. If the learning segments were gone, I might like it more than TATMR. But personally they REALLY bother me.

@@ZachAttack0 just to clarify, I don't like those learning segments either. They are super unnecessary and are only in there to pad the run time. I just think the whole experience of CAE is more focused and a better idea than TATMR

@@jjb1908 It is more focused, definitely. Honestly I think that’s because when you account for the learning segments and songs, it’s only like 35-40 minutes, half the runtime of Magic Railroad. They didn’t have to pad out the runtime as much.

@@ZachAttack0 One more thing, not to argue here, but Magic Railroad also insults me more due to the fact that it single handedly tainted the franchise in the eyes of the general public as a generic baby show where the trains talk because magic. While CAE was also for babies, a majority of the general public didn't see it

And Magic Railroad does insult me, because Britt Allcroft knew why people liked the show, but decided to add in magic anyways. It makes me wonder if deep down did she really care about Thomas the same way we thought she did?

Yes, hit made Thomas worst not with the songs but with the learning segments. Diesel 10 is out of character & that scene where the engines dream they are no longer useful to sit toppen hat are becoming a playground for kids. A nightmare to remember.

I quite like Calling All Engines. I had movie three pack with ittogether The Great Discovery and Hero of the rails, so this film is more a bit thomas and the magic railroad for kids of nineties. but i am much older and still like it. songs are solid, plot is in concept good, but... yeah it turned out childish and slow paced. Also learning segments didn't help. Ussual Bloke Luke did great re-write. Overally movie is for me mid.

This special, to me, is…. fine. It’s a fine special. It’s definitely not the best Thomas special but definitely not the worst. I feel like it’s a special you’ll watch if you’re bored or if you want to make fun of it. But I’ll give the special this…. It’s so much better than how Day of the Diesels handled the Steamies and Diesels conflict where they paint one side good and the other side bad. CAE handles it much better where they show that one side can be bad and the other can be just as bad as the other. So yeah, it’s a fine special but it has nothing going on with it, I was nostalgic for it when I was kid but looking at it now, the issues start to show itself. I will say that the next special, The Great Discovery, is sooooo much better than this one.

Yeah I enjoyed making fun of it, and the cast is cool, but there’s just nothing to it. I’m excited for The Great Discovery, because it’s one of the few films I haven’t seen, and they got a freaking James Bond actor to narrate it! I’m also excited to tear apart Big World! Big Adventures! at the very end!

@@ZachAttack0 Yeah, the cast is cool, but you think for a title like "Calling All Engines", they would bring out all the props from the original show as they could. A little bit of a missed opportunity, if you agree. The Great Discovery is one of the better specials imo. It's also unique because we got a James Bond actor narrating Thomas, which is something I'll always give the show, the amount of celebrity talent they bring is impressive starting from a Beatle, to a foul-mouthed comedian, and now a James Bond actor. It really makes the show stand out a bit from your regular generic kids show we get nowadays. I can't wait for you to tear apart BWBA, Misty Island Rescue, and Day of the Diesels, which are considered the worst specials of Thomas and Friends.

@@jordenfilmz The voice talent was insane, Ringo Starr, the foul-mouthed George Carlin😅 Alec Baldwin, and a James Bond actor! And I am excited to get to the bad CGI era, there’s a lot of fun material there! But also excited for The Adventure Begins, Sodor’s Legend of the Lost Treasure, that whole string of good movies! And then finish it with BWBA. I’m rambling now, but very rarely do I get to unleash all my Thomas knowledge, sorry!

@@ZachAttack0 No, no, you're good! And yes, the voice talent is crazy of which celebrities they can get. And yes, I can't wait for you to talk about the CGI era as well, it has its up and its downs, but it does have some fun material.

Most find Season 6 a bit polarizing. It's not entirely bad of course, but The Unlucky Tug said it felt like a slight downgrade from the first 5 seasons, it hasn't aged that well visually with the lighting being more gray and less vibrant with the colours, and the engine props no longer having their glossy paint sheens, instead using the models from Magic Railroad. But it's overall a decent series.
