In today's video, I'll be opening and reviewing (1) 2023-24 Panini Select Basketball Hobby box. These boxes sell for $575-650 a box. Each box contains 12 5-card packs. Look for a variety of prizm parallels including the ultra rare Zebra and new Gold Glitter, as well as numbered cards starting at (#'d/299) down to Checker Bronze(#'d/49), Tie Dye(#'d/25), Gold(#'d/10), Green(#'d/5), , and Black Finite(1-of-1's). Chase after patch autographs in Rookie Jersey Autographs, X-Factor Memorabilia Signature, and Jumbo Signature Swatches. Past and present stars autographs can be found with In Flight and the ultra rare Select Few Signatures. Dual and triple autographs include Select Pairings and Hall Selections Signatures, respectively. Insert sets span the likes of En Fuego, Select Future, Sensations, Snapshots, and Unstoppable. Case hit inserts include the returning Color Wheel and the all new, ultra rare Starcade. 🃏🃏🃏 for FUN FACTOR: Select hobby is kind of a Motte & Bailey. It makes you think you're getting something in every pack, but when it's all said and done, you've got a lot less than what you felt like you got. Great word salad.
🃏🃏 for VALUE: The price tag at $575-600 is a tall task for 4 numbered cards, 2 auto's(of guys you don't want), and 1 napkin patch is a big ask. Too big of an ask.
🃏🃏 for DESIGN: I've come to the conclusion Select looks like the players are trapped in a room whose walls are slowly closing in. It's kind of ugly.
🃏🃏🃏 for COLLECTABILITY: Select plays third fiddle to Prizm and Optic. There's still enough there to make collectors seek out some of the parallels and case hits.
