I just googled it. You are right. What a mess. I miss the BF4 days where we payed for a server and banned teamgriefers and fishy ppl. We probably banned some innocent players as well, but who cares there were enough servers to play on for them. And there were some good scripts that could weed out the guys with 80% Headshotratio etc. If you have a group and you pay 50 bucks per month for your own server you will have that online competition fun again but these days are gone it seems.

This isn't just the end of COD. Every competitive game I play anymore has cheater issues. The finals comes to mind most recently.. and this is the way gaming is going to be from here on out it seems. Cheats are easily accessible, and I largely blame the "streamer culture" for the influx of cheaters. Every kid now wants to be a streamer, and the majority of streamers are cheating, "dropping 40 bombs." So to emulate that, they resort to cheating hoping theyll make a name for themselves.. RIP competitive gaming

Imagine paying thousands of dollars to become a cheater.

The only way is for Activision to give everybody cheats. We all should have aim bot, wall hacks, radar fricking hacks and then cheats are made redundant and at least everybody on a fair playing field. Glad i haven’t played since black ops 1. We’ll never get back the glory day’s of Cod 4 modern warfare, Modern warfare 2, World at War. 😢

Im absolutely certain that if these huge gaming studios put a huge amount of money into their anticheat and research they would be able to detect this crap,But unfortunately they only focus on profits so do not really care.

If the platforms that let people stream and make money off cheating in the game stepped up and took cheating seriously and cut their money off if they are caught maybe we all wouldn't be in this situation. The radar seems like the most common hack. A lot of the "high K/D" streamers are always turning their heads to look at their second monitor during gameplay. Its no wonder they're garbage at live events.

I’ve been playing WZ since Verdansk and despite all the cheating I tried to just continue to play but it’s gotten so out of control I finally stopped playing this year. Which sucks because i miss the game but it just got ruined by all the cheats.

Cheats as always been is the COD community and it's really bad. But the fact that people get money with that (streamers, content creators, etc...) and Activision knows about it and does nothing it's disgusting

While this is depressing to hear Im glad you covered it and hope you intend to continue working....information is never hopeless the more loght that is shined on these issues the more serious platforms and publishers will be questioned and forced to find a solution if these guys can make them in their homes the likes of Microsoft and the like definitely have the money and reason to put an end to it.

S1 Warzone was the pinnacle so far as how much fun I had, but quickly declined as cheats overran the game. Activision protecting the cheating streamers was the final straw for me. Quit some time ago and haven't looked back. Pretty happy with that decision.

What do you think about AI anti-cheats that instead of directly checking for cheats analyse player behaviour to detect cheating? People using radar hacks / walls play very differently to those that don't.

Even APEX Lately seems riddled with cheaters and sweats. My lobbies are insane lately dying to people who never miss & know where everyone is. Watch 1 or 2 teams destroy the whole lobby

The big question I can’t seem to find an answer for is if these cheaters are so set on using M&K while swearing they don’t cheat, why don’t they plug them into a console? Level playing field for everyone.

I just realized how is this gonna affect the companies in pc industry that makes the hardware components (keyboards, monitors, mouse, cpu, ram, gpu, etc.)? You won’t need to spend hundreds to thousand of dollars into a pc setup for online competitiveness when you can just buy a DMA. There really is no point on upgrading if everyone is literally at the same skill level if they are using the DMA. These major companies could go down hill if they don’t respond to this situation as well.

The reason I got into playing Cod and streaming is because of watching streamers on YT, after I going into it I realize how hard it is to be a top player and stream, it's a shame that people would go this low to cheat a game that is so much fun to play...

I would go to say that a good amount of these high profile streamers are just average players or below average without their cheats. I mean, you can see their average aim and below average map awareness when they don't have their cheats. I think there are some legitimate above average streamers but, succumbed to cheating to get them over the hump they were stuck at. Just a thought. Now a days, I don't think Lan proven really means much either unless it's a very strict lan event where no outside devices including keyboards, mice, or controllers are allowed.

The kind of Dma cheats streamers use are custom made for them so no one else has the same cheat as them thus making it almost if not impossible to detect.

The second crossplay was implemented and all pro and streamers started promoting it.. It was over for the COD scene.

A hardware cheat setup like that will certainly have latency issues that running a cheat natively will not, making it less effective particularly for aimbot, so it definitely has its limitations particularly given the extreme price tag

Been watching for months now as this game has become an absolute cheat fest since the backend of Verdansk, I think most of us knew something wasn’t right. there’s a difference between being outplayed or cheated out of a gunfight and am glad to see many of you going through the exact same in a way. Because it highlights where the game has gone downhill, I am and have always been a console gamer and have seen many comments about “just turn Crossplay off” it makes 0 difference. You load into a game of warzone with an above 1.0kd there are hackers everywhere and in every single lobby on PS5. MW3 has been the worst Call of duty of all time they peaked to soon with the 2019 one with warzone on top and the streamers jumped on it, with other gamers following suit and realising the only way to be a sweaty rat was to buy all the cheats possible. Game over people, it’s been a pleasure

The solution is very simple. Any tourney that involves significant prize money, requires to be event hosted. This includes all hardware players use. This would also apply to qualifying elimination rounds. Invitations can be made based on online play, but quals and elimination rounds must be performed on site. Any player cheating will quickly be filtered. As for crossplay. I am a M/KB player and would very much like the option to opt out of competing with controller players. Gaming is in a very big mess at present.

This is similar to what was happening with Cuban baseball players taking performance enhancing drugs. Basically, the financial rewards outweigh any of the consequences assuming they even get caught.

This is why I'm for console only crossplay: unfortunately that does mean higher ping and not being able to play with friends on PC. However, that means that people on PC can't cheat in lobbies where it's full of console only players and other cheaters on PC are more likely to run into other cheaters.

I wonder how AI being incorporated into both cheats and anti cheats will affect all of this.

This is why I’m a firm believer that cross play should’ve only have consoles involved not PC to many issues arise from it. It’s dumb that the cross play phase was rushed and pushed on us.

For the last month I've been playing Warzone on GeForce Now and it's very very playable and I think the online component to PC shooters should be streamed in the same way as GeForce Now. That way you're forced to play fair due to the fact that you can't modify the cloud rig you're playing on, in theory that should kill PC cheaters.

As an innocent pc player that loves the franchise i agree, cut the bloody link from the pc . We must be something like a 10% of the player base atm , once we are cut off no1 will have any reason to pay big amounts for cheats and our game is gonna be cleansed , from cheaters and aim assist at the same time ..

To be honest I had an epiphany the other day when I looked at the hours I've spent on MP Games like CoD, the Finals, CS2, Overwatch and what not and then asked myself just how much fun I actually had in those hours, which turned out not to be a lot. I then realised the only reason I even play MP Games is because when I was a kid I'd only get a few games a year so ones that were playable with friends and had technically infinite replayability like CoD was what I got, really its just a cycle I never broke. I'm 19 now and in the UK in particular you really stop being a kid/teenager around 15/16, most of my friends including me became much busier with jobs, college, uni, sixth form and what not so its not like we play every evening anymore and I mostly play these games alone since they're only really fun with a big group which we can rarely do. Decided to finally uninstall all of these MP games and said I'm never buying them again. I don't have time to commit to being good enough to even compete, and the games really are only fun if your dicking around with friends or doing well. Now I'm playing SP games in the few hours a week I have to game and its much better, its actually fun and there is progression and there is also a story to enjoy. When I think of CoDs since MW19 even the most basic part of gaming which is a sense of progression really is absent from it, because the SBMM is designed to keep you at 1KD and will just simply intensify the matchmaking until your back down there, so you never get better. Used to do the camo grind but realised whats the point again really its just a skin on your gun. Same crap, same maps, designed for no lifes with unlimited time. Along with this epiphany I have also realised why people cheat. I highly doubt its because of 'mental issues' that people like to project onto them. Rather, if the only real way to be consistently good in MP gaming now is to either dedicate your existence to a single game or cheat, then for most people who have lives, other commitments, then cheating seems a good idea. In fact really I'd argue cheaters are less sad than the guys calling them out with 1k+ hours in a video game.

Simple solution, tournaments involving money should be strictly ps5 or Xbox, no PCs allowed

I dunno if anyone cares about older titles, but I’ve been playing cold war and I’m constantly playing with cheaters. There has to be something done with COD

Players used to put a stop to this by being able to run their own private servers from a separate PC and then charge a monthly subscription fee like 5 bucks to join. Then all the matches would be run with clan members on the teams instead of random player matching.

Paying thousands of dollars to cheat and be undetected. This is EXACTLY why PC’s have to get their own servers.

I’ve had it in my mind that this account is secretly ran by Nadeshot, Hecz, or someone in the community. Someone that truly cares for CoD and wanted to save it from the current path it is on.

DMA cheat hardware certainly isn't new, its been around since the 80's (such as Action Replay cartridge). I suppose it has been a niche compared to software cheating, probably due to price. I do believe Vanguard detects certain DMA based cheating however. Its an informative video for the masses, but its not new information. REWASD is more concerning as its more readily available and only pattern detectable.

This is one of the plethora of issues I have playing against pc gamers on cod especially. You can’t trust them.

I have a question, would it be possible to use the sbmm to detect accuracy of a player and then use that percentage to place players with similar accuracy scores?? Or does sbmm just go by a ranking score?? I feel like if you could research what an average person would score compared to an assisted score, and maybe when people over perform they then get put with people who also over perform could curb this issue??

What’s awful is that instead of doing their job, Activision puts out a shitty software that just does mass bans into the hundreds of thousands in 1 day and innocent people get caught up in those. My friend has mental health issues and stays home most of the time when not working gaming. He was recently given a permanent ban and I have played with this kid on Destiny for years, he has never cheated a day in his life. The sad thing is that if you try to appeal it, which you have the right to, you get a form email saying “sorry you cannot appeal this ban” and it’s a lifetime ban. He is so depressed and I don’t know how to help w/out paying to have his account reinstated. At one point his account was hacked cause he logged on and there were weapons that he didn’t remember getting, but now he has lost everything that he has worked years for. I’m glad that I have never EVER played these stupid online games from CoD because I’m a real gamer who has never used a cheat in my life unless your talking GTA3 where the cheats were in the game and you were allowed to use them for like unlimited ammo and such to have fun after you completed the game and all achievements. All this does is ensure that real gamers like me will never be “good” at these games because I do not use any cheats. I’m proud that every feat, achievement, and item that I have in any game has been earned with my own blood, sweat, tears, and yes sometimes f**k yous! Maybe I’m not the best, but I’m real. I’m very saddened to see these female gamers who could be the best if they worked a little harder have to cheat. How are you proud of something that you know damn well you didn’t earn? I guess it’s the difference between if you were raised right or if you’re trash!

All they have to do is turn crossplay off! Why are they forcing console players to play with suspect cheaters? Class action lawsuit sounds good to me!

This may be the end for fps shooters in general unless each games anti cheat works overtime to stop the cheats from registering.

Gaming companies need to team up and start suing the cheat websites. Companies have successfully sued in the past.

Gaming is destroyed. - People trying to normalize cheats. - Fanbois usually blind, or to young or too dumb to see it. - Way to advanced cheats, because to much money involved. - People really missunderstanding, they say people wont risk their job and their achievements by cheating, meanwhile its the other way around. As long as there is money to earn people cheat their ass off. - And then finally, its so important to have zero skill gap that games likes call of duty uses highly advanced codes to manipulate outcome of every single battle. Its supplemented further by constantly lower head and neckshot multipliers and increasing limb damage. All you can do is to rage, and quit. I tried to enyoy it since warzone 2, but it has been impossible. No real snipers, totally nerfed 24/7. In the end i did the smart choice and just quit. And it seems to be the trend, the playerbase is so low that they need to use AI bots to fill the lobbies and further manipulate outcome. Just like theese dmz guys has been raging about for a while. And i tried a single game of dmz and those ai bots litterally raped me from 100m away, meanwhile my teamates ran stright across the bridge, not Even needing to take cover once xD

About only idea i think might even work is if the game data is encrypted in memory but that would introduce a lot of cpu time to decrypt in real time.

I quit the franchise after season 5 in warzone, good to see that I didnt waste my money after this.

And that's why I prefer console to PC. Cheating is so much easier on PC. On top of that, when someone cheats on console, others players can see it instantly.
