The bridge rehabilitation project near Dufferin is scheduled to continue for the next three years, and some are calling on the city to extend the construction hours to get it done faster. The increased congestion impacts about 200 thousand people every day, and affects the city's productivity.

It's like this everywhere. In KW it takes 3 years to rehab one kilometer of main thoroughfare and after all that time it's still not done "right" and they always have to go back in and dig giant holes to fix leaky water mains that weren't put together correctly in the first place. Roads are closed entirely for entire seasons year in and year out and the pace is so slow. It feels like in the "old days", when machines were powered by steam and men wielded shovels, that work got done so much faster, was done right the first time and lasted so much longer.

@@Stormneo Yeah. I do feel for the people who have to go there for work or needs to go to the hospital for treatment because transit sucks and the roadways/highways are no better. It must be frustrating for emergency services as it's a challenge getting fire trucks, ambulances and police cars through that mess.

I predict one day soon, Toronto will experience a super traffic jam,. people will die due to inability to get emergency help. already, the congestion is causing accidents to create more accidents, City hall is dysfunctional,. This is how a city dies.

They could do it if they wanted. Easily. There is night construction 🚧 always done on the highways. So let’s go. I don’t even live there anymore. But I cannot fathom it with construction it was horrendous 15 years ago without construction.

Construction workers in Canada on public projects usually take advantage of the relaxed management. How much time they spend on doing actual work, on the phone or on walking about? That is why public works projects are slow and very expensive.

@@ljmk22 the city of Toronto only hires unions which is red tape bs which equals slower work but unions also wanna take longer so the workers get paid more I’m just saying my opinion the union will say no to this and plus they’d have to hire more workers ontop of that
@ljmk22
@ljmk22 28 күн бұрын
@@jakeace2830 that’s fine. Both “opinions” are possible. Yours is just a bit more negative and not really based on much. It will cost them more to have more ppl on deck. Versus wanting them to work slower. So 6 in one. Half a dozen in the other. I’m with buddy in the broadcast because it’s clearly possible. Unions or not. You can work safely and abide by union protocols and still “speed” this up. And who knows maybe they don’t need to hire more people they just end up with more in a concentrated area. If they do hire more that’s fantastic and can be posted as temporary with the possibility of continuation after the project. If not. Then it’s stated. And will help 100s of people looking for work.

@@ljmk22 I mean sure but this will go way over budget and as much I would love to see ALL road construction on major highways be 24/7 there’s to much red tape and the city and unions won’t come to an agreement

Every project should have a completion time and a penalty if not met. Without, the project will be subject to corruption. These people are very good with their opinions but no actions. Same things happen with any projects all the time. Even 3rd world countries set limits with huge penalties tied up to any construction projects.

How do you increase city populations exponentially without any concrete plans on the ground? The immigration system combined with general demographic increase is causing congestion , they should build more new cities or expand small ones to relieve big cities . You cannot keep filling up the glass with water and and expect it to not spill over get another container.

So I’m glad all the engineers and construction crews who spent years planning this project to bring it to this point should have all along just ask this clown how to do it! Just use slave labour and the lowest safety standards known to man like the communist countries do and ignore the fact that we as a government didn’t spend the money to maintain and repair the highway as it should have been to the point it’s gonna take 100’s of crew 3 years to rebuild a major Arteries into the busiest cities in North America. If this is how council spends its time on something they’ve known about for years already perhaps it’s time to change it.
