I am going to my a podiatrist this week. I am going to get this callous removed from the back of my left 5th metatarsal pad. It's painful and there is no prevention for it. I had the same thing two years ago and he removed it quickly and easily and said I'd be back as they always return. The podiatrist said it was a three letter acronym (I dont remember what it was) but it is basically a callus with an ingrown sweat gland. Anyway, I have a blood blister in the same exact spot as this lady on the other foot but it doesnt hurt or anything. I also have pain on all my metatarsals now when I walk. I have many miles on my feet as a soldier. I keep buying shoes at Pacers and similar stores that offer evaluation but have yet to get the right one. Can you recommend an insole for my metatarsal pads? It seems also that I keep getting little bunionettes on the outside of my toe box now. The podiatrist doesnt seem to know much about that other than bigger shoes.

Do you numb the toe before doing a debridement?

The tissue that was debrided was all dead so there was no need for any anesthetic.

@@frugalfoot4973 I see, thank you. I ask because a podiatrist I went to for the first time, a few days ago, started cutting at the nail on my big toe and removed quite a bit of it, then did a "debridement" of the area and it was very painful. She didn't numb my toe before starting the procedure. I would never allow that to happen to me again.

@@sl2608 Perhaps try a different podiatrist. Express your concern so that they know beforehand. Maybe that doctor will be a bit more gentle. I rarely have complaints about nail debridement.

@@frugalfoot4973 Thank you, I'm going to try a different podiatrist. I's been over a week since the debridement and I still have pain in my big toe. It hurts if anything, even a sock, touches it.
