Our city just finally redid our road after 60 years. My husband was a one year old when they blacktopped it for the first time. The whole thing was redone from new utilies, sidewalks with handicap accessible corners, a fire hydrant on my yard, road base and blacktop. I applaud you sir. Your dedication to your chosen field of work is not for everyone. Without you and your fellow drivers our countries would be lost.

Truckers CAN make great money, but if you calculate all the hours including maintenance, clerical, etc, the hourly wage is miniscule in comparison to working at McDonald's

Money isn't always everything, I can tell you that much... I'm a package driver (for the big brown company), I am comfortably above average money, am home every night, have pension and all the benefits. It's a stimulating job, but the working conditions are disastrous. I remember around 10 years ago watching you and BigRigTalk back when trucking vlogs were beginning on KZfaq, and thought to myself it seemed like the perfect job for me. Fast forward to present day, I'm currently doing private classes to get my Class 1 after all these years. It's time. I know the money might not be as good (my expectation is that it's about even), and I'm looking at a 20-hour a week increase in work time, but it's time. If I never give it a shot, I'll forever regret it.

Josh you said it so perfectly. Not everyone enjoys what they do and I fall in that category. I started trucking in 1985 and quit in 2000 to work full time for the Montreal Transit Commission. Better pay , working conditions and awesome pension but boring AF job! I've trucked part time ( for my former employer cuz I miss trucking)from 2007 until Covid hit and haven't done it since. I miss it terribly and want to get back into it when I retire in a few years. Trucking was not a great paying job back then and I was starting a new family just like you and Brit are doing now. Needed a better paying job and wanted to be home for them so I left the industry. I wish you and your young family nothing but the best . I love watching your videos , you bring me back to when I was your age trucking full time.

Josh, I freely confess that I don't know anything about trucking but I love watching your videos. I appreciate how hard you work so that all of us can have a better life. I'm curious. How does your cost/km compare to more modern...more aerodynamic trucks?
@Trucker_Josh

The aerodynamic ones have better fuel economy and the new ones are really good as well, but they are very over-engineered and the maintenance is much higher costs so it balances out to around the same expenses

Hi Josh, I'm in South Africa and absolutely love your videos. One thing about your show, you certainly have plenty of energy. In video 2665, you mentioned the cost of that construction on the road, costing millions.... In my opinion, just about every cent goes to people because they earn that money and the more it costs to build something, that means more people are earning a living... Take oil for example.... the oil is in the ground, is naturally there, as no one put it there but, to get ot out, takes human effort to get it out.... Of course, it's far more in involved than my simple explanation. ... Please continue with your very entertaining videos... We get to see new country side as well.

If Diesel Fuel is cheaper in the U.S., why not wait and fill up in International Falls, Minnesota (125 miles) instead of Kenora? Or, at most, just top off your tank in Kenora to get you to the U.S. Possibly ~$200 savings for 400 liters.?? Worth helping the bottom line.

Olin, we have to buy fuel in accordance with the mileage we drive in any states/provinces. It must be filed 4 times a year (quarterly). Gallons, miles, mpg and pay mileage tax rates for areas traveled in. It’s called the International Fuel Tax Agreement. Or IFTA. Canada, USA and Mexico.
