Very good point about the leaving the land and the sabbath year. About trust and in a time where the was no convenience stores available. It may not be down to pure disobedience on the people's side but fear. As usual a great teaching very insightful. Thank you for sharing. Blessings to you and your family All praises to the Most High.

Leviticus 26 is the foundation for all that takes place from the books of Deuteronomy - Zecharia. Specifically what the happened to God's nation and how they lived through the wages of their eniquity. Every single punishment came to pass. It is remarkable how consistent God is. His justice is completely justified, though He does not need justification and His mercy is completely out of love and grace as His holiness will not be tainted by a tolerance of sin. The coming of Jesus was inevitable as God's holiness would have to punish sin justly and the result would be to bring all His creation to an end. Instead He shows His compassionate heart and sends His only son who lived in complete obedience & righteousness and died for the sins of the world. He imputes the finished work of Jesus onto us and perfectly keeps His nature as God by making a way for us to be reconciled to Him. There truely is none like Him. How great is our God.

Is going through the Bible like this a Calvary Chapel thing? I haven't been to any churches in New Zealand that do this? Usually they choose a subject and add in scriptures but I feel that is the wrong way round...

Hello Nessa. Yes, Calvary Chapels teach through the Bible chapter by chapter and verse by verses. We have several CCs in New Zealand. Go to calvarycca.org/churches/ and type in "New Zealand" in the search box.

As Pastor said, there is no record that the Jews ever kept a Sabbath year, but many years later, God spoke to Israel and told him that He would allow Babylon to take them captive for 70 years. The land then would finally get its rest. (See 2 Chronicles 36:20-21)

If you don't keep your part of your covenant normally it's meant you shall be like a dead animal but in these case its was one sided its God who had to full fill the covenant.

ahaha i really love that you're asking this because it's questions like this that lead me to Jesus. I encourage you to seek this subject, get around the scripture, get something like an access bible, and join a study group. Remember, you're handling historical writings of which language has evolved since. You must ultimately bring your questions to God His Word because if you ask people questions, you get people's answers.
