Uncle Alvin!!! You have done it now- the Road March 🏆- the most popular song during Carnival Monday & Tuesday!!! You are taking all of us down memory lane!!! You are going back to Colonialism- Tubal Uriah "Buzz" Butler (1897-1977), Andrew Cipriani, Edward Beetham.... Songs from Roaring Lion (1908-1999)- "Netty Netty", King Radio's "Mathilda (1939 Road March) which was made more popular by Harry Belafonte- Belafonte At Carnegie Hall (1959). You are going back to WWII (1939-1945) If I am not 🚫 mistaken Lord Melody (1926-1988) had "Glory Mama Glory (1949). I may be missing some through the years- 1954 "Steelband Clash"- Carlton Joseph- Lord Blakie (1932-2005). We all know the period 1956-1976 from Independence to Republicanism in Trinidad 🇹🇹 belongs to the Mighty Sparrow & the Grandmaster Lord Kitchener (1922-2000) "The Road", "Mama Dis Is Mas" 1964 Road March 🏆, "My Pussin" 1965 Road March, "Melda" (Obeah Wedding) 1966 Road March- I will skip a few "Rain O Rama" 1973 Road March 🏆. Shadow came on the scene with "Bass Man"- 1974 Road March 🏆. Lord Kitchener's reign was coming to an end- he won the Road March 🏆 & Calypso Monarch in 1975 "Tribute To Spree"- Winston Spree Simon (1930-1976) & "Fever" 1975 Calypso Monarch. In the 1970s' Calypso was taking a backseat to the new emerging sound- Soca. By 1977 the trajectory of the Road March 🏆 had changed with Calypso Rose- "Tempo" & 1978- "Come Leh We Jam". Poser won in 1979 with "Ah Tell She".

Although not declared official road marches...songs like Fire Fire in she Wire by Calypso Rose, Garrot Bounce by Nelson, Archie Brek Them Up from the US Virgin Islands and Come leh we go Suki by the Guyanese King fighter have all stood the test if time and are more remembered than some official road marches in the 1960s!

The 1980s' for a time belonged to Austin Lyons "Blue Boy"- Soca Baptiste (1980), Ethel (1981) & "Rebecca" (1983). The late Seadley Joseph (1943-2013) had "Deputy" 1982 Road March 🏆- (he would win the Calypso Monarch 1984 with "Soft Man" & the Social Commentary "We Living In Jail"- which is relevant in today's society in Trinidad 🇹🇹. Crazy had "Succoyant" (1985). The sound changed once again. 1986-1990 belonged to Pelham Goddard, David Michael Rudder, Christopher " Tambu" Herbert & the brass band Charlie's Roots. The Mighty Duke- Kelvin Pope (1932-2009) who won the Calypso Monarch from 1968-1971 (during Black Power in T &T) won with "Thunder" (1987). By 1991 Blue Boy changed and his sobriquet (trade name) was now Super Blue 🔵 💙. He had "Get Something & Wave" 1991 Road March 🏆 (my favorite after Soca Baptiste). He won again with "Jab Jab" in 1992 & "Bacchanal Time" in 1993. Preacher had "Jump Up & Wave" (1994 Road March 🏆). Lord Shorty (1941-2000) had issues with this song- he didn't like the direction Soca music 🎶 was going- (interview with Harold Pysadee in 1995). I am jumping a little bit here- Shadow won his final Road March 🏆 in 2001 with "Stranger". Sorry for being the "eager beaver" 🦫 uncle Alvin 😂

@alvindaniell9865 ...Thanks. I will look on KZfaq to see if it is there. What I read it was the roadmarch in 1925 sung by Lord Houdini. There is a patois version on KZfaq sung by Atilla.
