Hey, 4th&1 family, it's Cam Newton, and today we've got something special lined up. I'm joined by none other than Donovan McNabb to dive into a topic rarely discussed openly - the unspoken rules of the NFL. In this conversation, Donovan and I peel back the curtain on the unwritten codes that govern player behavior, team dynamics, and the intricate balance of competition and camaraderie in the league. We're talking about the do's and don'ts that aren't found in any playbook but are crucial to navigating the complex world of professional football. From leadership and locker room etiquette to on-field conduct and the mutual respect among players, we're covering it all. Join us for this enlightening discussion as two veterans of the game share insights and stories that shed light on the subtle norms that influence the NFL behind the scenes. It's a rare glimpse into the brotherhood of football and the codes that bind it together. Let's dive in!

At the peak of his powers, McNabb was definitely a Gamechanger. Those Philly teams (with the exception of the '04 team with TO) were pedestrian offensively and somehow still managed to get to four straight conference championships. Regardless of how you feel about McNabb, you can't take that away from him.
@MrPJfresh

Facts. Even in 2004, TO was injured and McNabb carried that team to the Superbowl. Donovan was a Top-5 QB every year while throwing to Todd Pinkston and James Thrash.

Reid learned to put the players ahead of his scheme in KC, having great positional players: Tyreek Hill & Travis Kelce. In the Eagle years, he felt his scheme was more important and kept putting square pegs in a round hole. Donovan was great, but Reid did him a disservice by never giving him good WRs and a consistent running attack.
@MrPJfresh
@MrPJfresh 4 ай бұрын
@jeanetteroberts4427 I disagree. Andy Reid is the coach and not the GM. He coached the talent that he was given in Philadelphia, and they were extremely successful during his tenure. When he got to KC he had talent on the offensive side of the ball thar he just never had in Philly.

A Couple McNabb former teammates have been trying to throw dirt on his legacy lately. Like he wasn't a top 5 QB during his time, even though his first 6 seasons in Philly, he never had 1 pro bowl receiver. He played in Philly for 10 seasons. 2004 Philly got T.O. who had 1,000yds that season and almost 1,000 the next season, only playing half the games. Went to the Superbowl. Desean Jackson came in as a rookie a few years later and had 900 something yards. Year 2 Jackson had 1,000yds

@@sontewong9935 When Aaron Rodgers does it it's likely a quick throw under pressure that he can't follow through on. Or an intentional low throw to a covered WR to keep from getting intercepted. And it was rare that he did it. McNabb kept doing it to a wide open shallow crossing WR or to a RB who just went a couple yards out as a check down. And it was a game routine of at least 2 or 3 times. He threw at WRs feet like when you try throwing a rock and it's got that hook edge that prevents it from rolling off your fingers and makes it go straight into the ground.

Lamar was breaking records and got two MVPs and the media still trashed him calling him a running back. Ok let's say he's a running back. Cam calls out Purdy and now people want to come at him with torches and pitch forks. So we can kill Lamar but not Purdy?

McNabb is the greatest QB the Eagles ever had, and Philly treated him like 💩. He has always been the consummate professional, as well. Also, he should be in the HOF.

The organization never properly and consistently surrounded him with the right amount of talent that he needed like the Patriots did with Brady and the Colts did with Manning. I thought that was pitiful!

McNabb was probably one of the strongest QB's. He was a linebacker playing QB.

This was dope - and he was dropping bombs just like the on the field. My guy Lamar needs a guru like D Mac or Vick on his shoulder to get him over the hump. Winners gotta mentor winners to keep the legacy going. I’ll be checking his pod out for sure 💪🏾🔥

Sometimes u gotta light the torch.. This was a good conversation. I am kinda getting used to Cam's interview style. The Game-Manager thing is NOT a knock. It is what it is.. In the NBA, Rondo with The Big 3 was THAT.
