Nice clean setup but just food for thought. Metal conducts and retains more heat than the plastic one so you're actually putting more heat into that motor. That's why K&N makes them out of plastic or carbon fiber like mine.

I was so happy when I came across your video. I just bought this cold air intake same exact one for my 2017 Camaro. Super excited to get it put in. And you just made me feel better all the way around about it and that I don’t have to do a tune. Because I’m not looking to do a whole lot more mods to the engine part. But I’m excited to see how it changes the sound. Great job on your video.😊

Kinda skeptical about all the cold air intakes. I'm not quite sure they r worth the $300 - $400.

I just installed a K&N system on mine and the fit is so disappointing… the “box” doesn’t seal to the fender/rad support at all, there’s huge gaps to let hot air in. Wish I had bought the Cold Air Inductions to get a proper seal. Especially when there isn’t much difference in price between the two..

I tried bolting on my CAI and the engine idled funny like the alternator was going bad and when driving it acted like there was a misfire. The only thing I didn't do was try melting the intake hose. I'm hoping I don't have to buy a performance MAF because I've heard mixed signals about the Jet MAF so I've yet to pull the trigger on it (5th gen SS owner by the way).

@Fade2BlackSS come to find out the plastic connector tube needed to be taken off and replaced with the rubber hose. I learned that after spending $50 at a performance mechanic who installed my long tubes.

@@JohnJohn8909Are you talking about that plastic hosing/tubing that’s on the resonated part of the stock airbox hosing, and goes to the stock intake manifold? That’s the part that’s usually removed and replaced with rubber hosing when upgrading to an aftermarket air intake system, right? I was looking at $300-400+ ram intake systems, and a few $350+ cold air intake systems, and I’m honestly rebating on just getting an SLP intake hose/tube, to delete the stock resonated intake tube. The gains aren’t really there, but it looks more sporty and sounds a tad bit better. Dare I say, you might get 3+ HP more with cold ambient temps all around? LOL

I got a CAI cai Kit , New in Box for my 2011 2SS, it’s ok but the fitment from the throttle body to the filter is not good, since pipe is stiff it’s got literally 0% play/wiggle room, not good since tubes gotta move a bit w/ engine, is it a true “cold” air intake , yes is it the best fit No, would I buy it again for my other vehicles, No

My 2SS has 5K miles , clean like new , not even a dent, dang filter came out, followed instructions as per this vid and filter hasn’t came out again but like I said has a really crappy fit

So every time you need to add windshield washer fluid you need to remove protecting glass - in my opinion that's not the best solution even if filter get's dirty without the glass - filter function is to get dirty and keep the dirt on it. Basically this cheap plastic tube by K&N is better due to thermal conductivity. There will be more heat from metal tube than plastic. I am not a fan of K&N but in this specific comparision it's way better than CAI you installed.

Well, I don’t find myself adding fluid that often, and the top cover comes off in 10 seconds with the 1/4 turn bolts. This design doesn’t get dirty and protects from heat soak since it is walled off with insulation. From what I’ve seen on the dyno, these perform the best. The K&N design wasn’t bad besides being flimsy - and the plastic actually cracked on me. I’m sure this could also be used with a plastic tube but I used the coated metal one included.

Do you have to unplug the negative terminal? I’ve seen a lot of people say that it’s not necessary but some still do it for extra safety

Cold air inductions? More like hot air induction’s. The K&N intake is superior because it has a plastic intake tube. Metal or aluminum intake tubes don’t dissipate heat very well. When air travels through a metal intake tube, it heats up the air and lowers horsepower.

The plastic k&n is going to 100% make more power, most metallic cai with suffer from heat soak.

Nothing like a drive in winter with the Camaro...do they salt the roads where you are driving? If so, stop wasting your money on mods. Your Camaro will be a rusted out heap in time to come. I live in WI and no Fing way would my SS be out in winter. It stays in a heated garage until a couple good rains in May.

They do but car was rust free before I sold it, new owner wrecked in a few months in and totaled it, sadly.

@@MartyMotoring Nope. Once you drive a car in winter and it gets a good salt bath it will eventually rust out somewhere on the car. The salt gets into areas where you cannot easily wash it out. I've lived in the salt belt for 50 years and owned several vehicles long term to know how they all eventually rust.

Been driving in the rust belt for years. Put 100 thousand miles on my traverse and as long as I’ve had underside washes it’s been solid. Clean it really good and hose it with fluid film.
