I just want to ask . . how far is this place from the cambodia-thailand border ? I've been to Phnon pehn in 2014 . . in the border we asked for fast travel but they lead us to a bus that made our travel for 10 hours . . is there any fast bus travel now a days ?

My best friend youngest brother was deported back to Cambodia about 10 years ago too, he came to U.S. when he was only 2 years old. Most of Laotian and cambodian came to U.S. as a refugee due to war and most of us though that we are permanent resident and didn’t bother to take a test to become U.S. citizen. It’s sad to see so many families being torn apart, at least your uncle and his friend (cambodian hippie) are doing good and living a good life. Thank for sharing your uncle story.

Good for him, his family in the u.s. just needs to send him some money to built a house and get things going. There's more sun shine, good weather over there...if it was me, I wouldn't want to come back to the u.s. to face freezing weather again. I'm actually thinking about going back to Laos to retire, love the weather there.

Such an inhuman treatment to people after living so many years in the States. I really feel for these deportees! The Cambodian Government should not have done this treaty with the US Government at the first place.
@jivitsabay840

007nait It was about the money. The more deportees Cambodia accepted, the more money the US would pay. Fortunately, Cambodia is reducing acceptance of deportees--not because they have a heart but because the US wasn't giving enough money. Smh.
