On August 16, 1780, General Horatio Gates' army, joined by militia men from North Carolina and Virginia, marched south toward the British outpost in Camden, South Carolina. At the same time, Lt General Charles Earl Cornwallis's army headed north. The cavalries clashed in a battle that became known as the Battle of Camden, the largest battle in the South up to that point.

I am sorry to hear that. Gates was definitely a horrible commander who took credit for other people's success. He was a shameless self-promoter who only care about status and personal gain.

The muskets really aren’t that inaccurate, lines of men are easier to direct in combat than open ranks, and you get more effective fire if you are in a line because you can easily see if your men are leveling their muskets too high. Human beings have a natural aversion to killing each other, you need training and peer pressure to get most people to do it in combat.

How can British troops "invade" the territories of the Crown By the way, how come the background music features the Ca Ira from the French Revolutionary War?

The United States declared itself an independent nation. To the United States, it WAS an invasion. To the British Empire, it was just a rebellion.

@@Kuhndog94 The United States certainly did NOT declare itself an independent nation. A group of traitors did so no invasion and no evidence the inhabitants, , let alone even a reasonable minority, supported the move .. People may respect the US a bit more if people like you avoided ex post facto validations of attitudes.

@@alecblunden8615 1. It's not treason if you win. 2. A "group of traitors", huh? So a "group" of people defeated the mighty British Empire 3. Imagine being that bitter over something that happened over 240 years ago. 4. The Decleration of Indepedence was written and agreed to by representatives from all 13 colonies, ergo the United States declared its independence, ergo go fys.

@@Kuhndog94 1. Where did you get the moronic idea that criminality vanishes if you escape punishment by letting other countries fight your battles? 2. The war was fought by France, Spain and the Netherlands all of whom were defeatedto the point of economic a, but I can see why you prefer self delusion to facts - They are not pretty. 3 "Bitterness? I note that obviously applies to you, but I feel feather like the commanders at the time. The important objective in the Caribbean had been secured and 13 worthless agrarian colonies who had been saved at vast expense were just not worth it. they could never be trusted. 4Former Australian PM Paul Keeting said it best in another context- "Unrepresentative swill" In any case, you got what you deserved even less representation, a a lot more more taxes, no to mention the least functional constitution in history
