Today i'll show you how to make a junk journal cover with topper using vintage Edith Holden Fabric and Heat n bond. This is my favourite way to make covers and it's very beginner friendly. You can leave it as plain as you like or go to town with embellishments.
Hello, I'm Julie Junk Journals are my thing , welcome to my channel, Camelia Crafts Designs.

A lovely journal cover using Edith Holden goodies. I started work in BHS (the old high street store) back in the mid 80s. I seem to remember a huge revival of The Diary of an Edwardian Country Lady. There was a range of bedding and textiles with the images on. Oh, if only i had known then what i know now! 😊 TFS❤

Thanks Michelle love. Ooo i used to love BHS, so sad it is no more. I know what you mean though, the thing's i;ve gotten rid of or never knew would be sought after gems these days. On a similar note, my eldest is very into retro and vintage clothing and wants a Harrington jacket, she looked distraught when i told her i had one in the 80's. she calmed down a bit when i told her i had my name on the back of it in fuzzy letters😘🤗💜

I'm glad you're feeling better, Julie, but rest up and recuperate so you're back in mid season form soon. I love listening to you waffle, because it's like listening to my late but much loved stepfather. He was born in Nottingham and came to the US as a young man. As he got older, he slipped back into his British accent and sounded a lot like you do. I can still hear him asking me to "get us a cuppa, pet" and saying about our clumsy neighbor "EE, e's a bit of a numpty, inn't he?" I've learned so much from your videos and you've given me so much entertainment and enjoyment over the last three difficult years. Thank you. May you waffle on forever.

Yes, I sometimes think this virus is passed through the internet, I'm sure it can happen... lol.😂 My twin is very good to me. She came over one day and said, "I thought of you when I saw this," then handed me a piece of 9x12 in cardboard, lol. Honestly, it was the heavy and nicest piece of cardboard I've ever seen, mhm, it's true. It will be cut in half and will use metal rings to hold it together, not sure what they call that, but I've seen videos where they do that. She always tells me, as I'm explaining what I'm making, that she knows I love it, but she just doesn't "get it"... we are total opposites. The truth is, she doesn't get it, but she gets me, and that's all that matters. 💜 I have, besides my twin, 6 other brothers and sisters, yep, parents were good Catholics, lol. With that said, I'm sure your girls will always be there for each other, having a twin, who was with you from the beginning, is just different, even with having other siblings, it's just a different type of bond. 💜💜💜

Hi Julie, I am a recent subscriber to your channel. I've been binge watching your videos and wanted to say hi and that I adore you and your channel! I've made several of your one page wonders. I love how you craft, your awesome personality and as you say, your "waffling" is superb! Have a lovely rest of the week. Sheryl from Birmingham, Alabama.

Ok, was finally able to watch the whole video. Kids finally went to bed! 😂 I was one who asked for tips on how to do the cover. You pretty much gave a simple formula that can work on any journal. Thank you so much. I think that sometimes we need someone else to show us to break it down. We tend to overthink everything! 😂 Appreciate you Ms. Julie, huge fan. ❤ ~ Tabby

Hi Beverly, me too love. I didn't mention it, but they are going for £5 or £6 on ebay in the UK at the moment and some of the big book sellers have surprisingly low shipping rates to the US. Just a thought☺️🤗💜

Well there's no excuse now I'm just going to have to use my Edith Holden books and stop hoarding them😂 Unfortunately there won't be any fabric. Love how this is looking. Val Australia 🐨 the

I use a product similar to heat and bond when I do collage quilting. I never thought to use it on my covers. Especially since anymore I make a lot quilted covers, or covers I have slow stitched and then quilted to batting and then applied to envelopes. I am so totally going to try this. Fabric has gone up so dramatically. And you use so much of it to put a fabric cover together. The last one I ordered from Amazon was 17.00 per bottle on Amazon US. My art glitter glue lasts a long time. But using so much fabric, I have used a lot of fabrictak. And I did not know they had Edith Holden fabric. I am now on a mission to find some.

the price of fabric is crazy now. I remember making my own clothes as a teenager as it was cheaper than buying. I had a new skirt every week for a few pounds. My mum made curtains and bedding too. it's now more cost effective to buy ready made. The Edith fabric is from the 80's and i get mine from ebay mostly. Good luck with your mission Jackie☺️🤗💜
