Great advice on choosing a small, lightweight camera. I have moved to a Sony A7Riv and adore the way it is easy to carry around. I shall be eagerly awaiting further videos on your channel.

I think you would appreciate the Leica M-D typ 262 - only an aperture ring (on lens), a shutter speed dial, and an ISO/ASA dial. . . . Oh, and no screen - no chimping, no menus, no fussing around. Just you, the three essential controls, and your subject !

I might try that out some day. I rarely change cameras though. I like to know my tools and have my habits 🙂

I have just found your channel from your video on using a 50mm lens. You are so right about zooms. I have a couple but find that I'm using them less and less lately. There's just more to think about when using a zoom and I'm older than you! I also have a Sony a7rii and enjoy using old lenses such as a Takumar 50mm f1.4 that cost about 12 euros and came with a film camera attached! Have a few others but find that when the adapters are fitted they become quite large. I have been trying a TTArtisan 50mm f2 which has the Sony E mount and getting surprisingly good results for very little money. I limited myself to 50mm today and think I will try and use only the one lens for a while. You are right when you say that shooting becomes more instinctive.

Thank for you comments. It's all about how we approach photography. For some this works, and others decline. It's fun to play around with different lenses, inclduding old vintage lenses with the look they can add. Also the cheaper ones as you mention.

thanks for the effort and the sharing. very informative. i use the sony a7r3 and very often set the color profile to monochrome which also produces a monochrome jpeg alomg with a raw color image. i find using the evf in black & white allows me to "see" the light and how it falls onto the photographed scene. thumbs up.

M9 is still my favorite among my M collection. When matched with the 35 mm Summaron f2.8, it becomes my most used tool for outdoor photography under 800 ISO.

Interesting how this camera manages to hold on in these times where digital cameras are just briefly used before being replaced by a new camera. Thanks for sharing.

M8, M8.2 and M9 are CCD. M240 and up (M10, M11) and what ever are CMOS. I'm a photographer since 45 years

Thats right. When I mention M9 and M10 in the same sentence it is because the images aren't that far apart regarding their expression. I still favour the M9 expression though, but that's just my taste although the dynamic range isn't superior. Personal flavour I believe.

A great presentation, especially fr the primary one. Thank you for your thoughts. I, too, have the M-9, plus an A7M III. I like them both but the M-9 is the better for me for color and image.

Agree. The M9 might be old in the digital age but it is a long-lasting tool for sure.
