Thats something that is so obvious to me but all these people in society blame things on the guns and the drugs and the tools. The mental state is the root cause. Good post

GabsBean it actually went hand in hand. In a lot of his songs he portrays that his inability to control himself and his actions because of his addiction contributes to part of his depression.

I dabbled in Lil Peep before but after he died I dove into his music more. Hearing the lyrics and knowing how his life ended is really saddening. I didn't follow him on social media or anything so I didn't know he was deep into drugs and its sad that so many rappers are promoting this. I can relate to being depressed and self medicating to escape. I think his pain is what made his music so relatable. He took something negative and turned it into a positive. He may have been depressed but I truly don't think he was trying to end his own life I think he just got bad pills. I almost wish Peep could have been arrested or something to save his life before this end. Of course I'm not a real fan but I can't help but feel saddened by the loss of such a talented person who was really carving out his own niche in rap and rock. I really do think he was just at the beginning of what would have been a massively successful career. RIP Lil Peep.

Being depressed is what led myself to do drugs, in hope i would fill the emptiness i had in me, and the problem is that it works in the beginning. You dont start out on a drug binge its the constant hope of relieving the inner problem you have and end up addicted to that. I can personally say that in the end the Drugs dont work they make the problem worse after so much drug use & days on in of no sleep laying in the bathtub or floor hating everything 10 times more because now you actually feel like death with nothing to live for it make the mental issues 1000 times worse. After ending up in jail, becoming sober getting another chance to live sober im now 2 years Clean and may not be where I want to be but im moving forward and doing better. Rip Lil Peep I used to listen to his music all the time I hope everyone has a better day today and the days to come.

06:55 that's a huge generalisation made by society. Being depressed, is different from being suicidal or having suicidal ideation. Those are completely different issues that should be addressed differently. Yes, Lil Peep experienced depression... his music seems like he had suicidal ideation but that doesn't mean everyone depressed thinks or considers suicide constantly.

Good to see your mom recognizes the deeper issue too many people wanna blame the individual these days. But society can influence people to use drugs to deal with issues but also pertetually and continues those issues without treatment and when the dope wheres off it's always worst. We need to address these issues at their core and love and understanding is what's most important

lil peep was one of the few people i looked up to and inspired me, and he will be for as long as possible. everything about him was amazing, his music, tattoos, clothes, everything... my parents didnt like him and his music because he was a "bad influence" so i wasnt allowed to buy any of his merchandise or go to any of his concerts. I think of gustav as our generation's kurt cobain. he couldve gone so far in life with his career. im sure his death was not caused on purpose but he will still be a huge part of the this generation. Rest In Peace Gustav

Just to clarify when she says people that do drugs have a tendency to turn depressed is wrong imo. We resort to drugs to numb our depression, drugs are the only way to escape the feelings we have. While drugs definitely keep us in a depressed state they aren't the reason we are depressed. RIP Gus.
@jrrcorcloudsaremine6 жыл бұрын
It can work both ways.
@tommoconstantly5 жыл бұрын
Yeah but as true as this is, if you turn to drugs you usually end up in this cycle and are not making your depression better, only for the short moment your actually feeling the effects of the drugs, I know that first hand, same with alcohol, if you truly want to survive depression and/or anxiety you have to get out of the cycle and get to know yourself and why you are depressed so you can sort that shit and come to terms with it, you can’t keep trying to escape by getting wasted it only works short term

I guess Peep is finally on the bright side and hopefully he is no longer suffering and feels no more pain in heaven where he belongs. Personally I have never met or went to one of peeps shows and I regret not being able to do so. Hopefully we will be able to talk about mental health issues in hip-hop in the near future to really stop this from happening again. To anyone reading this stay safe.
