Camiguin is a small and peaceful island in the northern part of Mindanao and dubbed as “The Island Born of Fire” home of seven volcanoes.
Aside from numerous tourist spots that you can find here, Camiguin is well known for having the sweetest lanzones that grows on the island. Every third week of October, the province celebrates Lanzones Festival. They also have Pastel de Camiguin, a bun that is filled with yema inside. They also have unique snacks that are made of cassava and drizzled with sweet caramelized coconut sauce.
If you are looking for a local Filipino meal, try and have it here in J&A Fishpen. They offer seafood, pancit, squid, soups, crabs, fruit shakes, etc. A must try here is their sinuglaw, a mix of sinugba and kinilaw with grilled pork belly. It is only a walking distance from our accommodation, Camiguin Blue Lagoon Cottages.
What’s great about here is that aside from the scrumptious foods they have, you will enjoy it more with an inviting view. It was formerly a fishpond and eventually converted to a floating restaurant in the vicinity of Taguines Lagoon, opens daily from 8:00 in the morning to 8:00 in the evening.
