Well, maybe their publicist let them be official. Because it seems that something (I'm not saying they dated or were in a relationship but something) was happening back then. If you act like you're together and after question if you are together you have to look at each other and think for a moment it's usually not just friendship. And the fact that their publicist were freaking out just helps this theory. And of course their songs in which they wrote or sing that their kisses are history or that it feels like it never happend or because I had you, how can I be your friend when I know the way you taste and so on.
