On this adventure travel series I will be doing one of the most famous thru hikes in the world, Camino de Santiago or The Way of St. James. The camino actually has several different routes, and I will be taking one of the routes that is quickly getting a reputation for being the most beautiful routes of the Camino. The Camino del Norte or the Northern Way. This hike is roughly +835 kilometers and I plan to complete it in 35 days. On this episode I cover days 11-15 of the hike.
Day 11 - Laredo to Güemes
Day 12 - Güemes to Santander
Day 13 - Santander to Torrelavega
Day 14 - Torrelavega to Comillas
Day 15 - Comillas to Colombres (Asturias)

I have eleven Caminos and I was always told to stop around 2-230 so you could wash your clothes relax and eat a proper meal and have always abided by this.

Wow, that beach you walked across at the beginning of the episode was amazing! Hard to say which segment has had the most beauty, but this episode was pretty amazing! Very impressed by how many miles you've hiked. You never look tired or even broke a sweat.

You're so chipper! I like these videos as they tell a story as you go along, day by day, rather than just being a slideshow of random clips.

What a treat ... food for the soul! ... thanks for taking us along ! . Glad you were able to visit Santillana Del Mar & the Altamira cave museum; both a considerable detour from the coastline. The ancestral Tower of Obeso -one of the oldest in the region- is in the vicinity. Can't wait for the next posting on Asturias' costal towns. My family is from the region, and you might have encountered the seaside villages of Celorio, Balmori and Poo all of which are our family last names with homesteads going back for centuries. This is the amazing coast where I retreat to enjoy of the cool northern summers. Wishing you many more happy trails !

Love that you spend time walking on beaches. That's the one reason I want to do the Camino del Norte: The Camino Frances was inland and I hardly saw any lakes or rivers. I guess with organizing and filming, etc. it took time to get to your destination. I often left early and got to my destination usually before 3:00 in the afternoon leaving time to relax and explore. Glad you said that you can take alternate routes: each peligrino makes their camino their own. I want to take the ferries for sure. Cheers

This was the most challenging part of the camino for me. I was wondering to give up for the pain on the feet on the road to san vincente. That's why the end felt so intense. It's a pity that you miss the natural park dunas de liencres after santader. I made a delay of 20 km to see it, but they were the most breathtaking cliffs of the north coast

Hi! Great videos!! I am wondering if there is a guide book or certain map you brought or used to plan your walk? Also I hear there is a "GR" path which is different from the yellow arrows which follows more of the coast and less roads. Did you follow that?

Hey Brian. I’m watching your series of the Camino and I love it. I’m just start planning my trip and hoping that I will be able to make it before summer. When did you do yours? Also would love to be in touch to ask some questions. I’m so indecisive if I do it on the North or the main one. Hope I can get some advised from you. Your experience looks amazing 🥰

Hi Brian. Thank you so much for an awesome series on the Camino del Norte. I am so glad that I watched this and I am now absolutely convinced that this is the route for me. I only have max 25 days to walk and I am planning to do it in June’23. Looking at all the days and distances I think I should start in Santander and would love to follow the same route you did. Do you actually assist pilgrims with accommodation bookings, luggage transfers, etc? If not - can you put me in touch with the agency you used? I will be travelling from South-Africa. Thank you in advance. Liesl Viljoen

Hi Brian! Love your videos. I´m planning to do part of this Camino next week starting in Bilbao. I have only 13 days, do you think I can do some hike and then with transport to get to Santiago? And which map did you use? Thanks :)

Which stage could you head south east and join Camino Primativa? Also could you have left the coast for the last few days and still be going in the same direction? Appreciate what you’re doing. Grant

Hi, how are you? I am enjoying your videos, I am 68 years old and want to travel the Camino Del Norte in 2024. I don’t know if I am able to do it because of my age. What are your thoughts on that thank you for responding in advance.

Hey Brian, enjoying the trip so far, and really appreciate all the information you offer. Have you included time for swimming, which obviously isn't included in the video?

Muchas Gracias! unfortunately, i was there in October and the water was pretty cool. But these times did include filming, which probably took close to 2 hours per day.

It´s a real shame you missed the "albergue" at Güemes. It´s the most special in the whole Camino del Norte. :-( However, it ´s a great video with awesome takes.

Hello! Can you shorten the Camino de Norte? I have about a month off from work, where is the most common starting point if it's not at the "beginning"? Thanks for making these videos :) They're great work!
@TheTravelVlogger
@TheTravelVlogger 4 жыл бұрын
of course you can shorten it....or you can do more kilometers and complete it in less time. it is definitely possible to do in 1 month.

Why are getting in "near dark"? is it just you not starting out early or is it the time of year?
@TheTravelVlogger
@TheTravelVlogger 5 жыл бұрын
It was mid-october, so the days are not so long. Would normally start each day around 8am, but also had to film which probably added 2 hours minimum each day.

It's totally right, my friend. Juan de la Cosa was a Spanish navigator and cartographer known for having participated in seven of the first trips to America and for having drawn the oldest preserved map on which the American continent appears. Did you know this?
