Well, this wasn't a weekend job...
But the job isn't that bad - just time intensive. Doesn't help that I wasted days waiting for parts because I forgot stuff and changed my mind and ordered the wrong things. But listed below are the aftermarket parts I used
From Summit:

Since you're going in the right direction, go to Hughes and get the fuel injection Airgap intake manifold. The stock "kegger" intake restricts a lot of air flow especially with a cam upgrade.

Last time I checked it was permanently out of stock, ( whatever that's supposed to mean )? But since it's just a carburetor intake manifold, machined to accommodate fuel injection. If someone really wanted one, they could just buy the Edelbrock air gap manifold and have a machine shop do the machine work. I saw a video of a before and after dyno test and it only added 5hp. I don't think it's worth the money or the hassle. Bosch 4 hole injector upgrade or a better flowing exhaust system could add more than that.

No it doesn’t. Only ones mindset is . Ever hear of UTAWESOME ? Has 590/600 from them . Mine is 580 lbs at the flywheel with mild mods to it with the runners .

@@Thundarr995 It's worth it just being able to see the distributor again. It makes my motor rev faster, least that's all I noticed from it.

You need an engine overhaul. That much gunk in the valley means rings are packed , bearing copper is showing I'd bet anything, pick up and oil pump? Lack of oil changes is bad news all way round.

So I rebuilt the 5.2 in my Dakota, with the 20-746-9 Comp cam and use the Hughes airgap. Been running over a year now with headers, no cat, it gutted itself but I will be replacing it. Single 2.5 back with 1 flow master 40. Sounds mean and has a nice lope at idle. Definitely sounds like a muscle car now. Might wanna check your oil pickup on your pump. Previous owner never changed the oil so it had a lot of hard sludge packed into the screen hence little to no oil pressure at times.

I think you've done a good job, keeping within a limited budget . It sounds good. Its a neat truck. I have a '99 D150 le that I'm working on. Same engine. Took a while to get it running because it had been setting in a backyard for many years but once it started it ran so nice I decided I'd fix the rust (windshield driprail and the floor that it leaked on) but that's the only rust on it! It's a Texas truck. So bodywork come's first and just like you I've never done that before but I'm going to jump right into it! These old RAMs are great project's. Good luck to ya.

This thing needed an upgraded oil pump first start. I did a oil pump headers and a Hughes intake on a 360 and that thing will make the tans work and burn 30's and I'm still running a V6 trans

Put a real pressure gauge in regardless. I did after I had 2 goofy sending units. Also like already stated I would Deff put a diff intake manifold in with the new cam. Going 3/4 the way might as well go the mile. Great vid other then was really hoping for the start up and sound.

I had a supercharged meth injection 01 1500 on 37s with stock trans. Had 120k when i sold it still running and shifting fine. Its on my other channel, "youran1993r"

@@brennenwilhoite326 couldn't get a reliable oil pressure reading and parked it outside for "when I get around to it". It has been at least 6 months since and i don't plan on looking into it any time soon. Bought a 1982/83 Chevy school bus that I want to work on after I get my mud jeep put back together. I might make a little video on that jeep next time I take it out to the off road park and I also might make a video on the bus but honestly I don't love the KZfaq thing so motivation to record and edit is minimal

The only problem I have had with the engine was concerning oil pressure. I put a mechanical gauge on it though and it reads way different from the dash so I guess it is a faulty sender or the factory gauge is funky

Been too busy to finish it up but it is running nice and seems to have some decent power. I have yet to see how it does around town and on the highway but it's good on the little drives around the neighborhood

@@finestoffreedom3170 I did reuse the stock locks. And I'm pretty sure you can use the same stuff for the 360. You should still double check fitment on Summit to verify
