i think the steam kept dying because you kept closing the injectors. without fresh water, the boiler level will quickly be depleted causing loss of pressure.

remember to activate the blower on the left side of the engine, it increases fire efficiency by not shoveling so much coal, trust me on that ;)

Man this game simplifies steam trains, although somewhat accurate. At the minimum they can take up to 4-5 hours to fire up, and with all the maintenance and stuff, yeesh, Still looks fun though! :D

When you are in the steam train keep the water on

At least with Microsoft Train Simulator the regulator was always kind of tricky as it it's like a car's gear shift and you can kind of stall out and you need to advance the regulator as you pick up speed. Also look to see if the steam loco has an automatic stoker.

I have a tip:Dont push the throttle to full fort half way then once up to speed full throttle and add more coal before going.After that let it coast at speed.Regulate the pressure with the horn.

I've played this game for about 9 hours and haven't derailed once even when trying to. I did however get the train stuck on a hill as it ran out of water

Camodo try attaching all trains to the rear, going away from the railyard so the steam locomotive can face forward, use the diesel at the turntable TURN THEM SO THERE REAR IS GOING ONTO THE TRACKS and the attach the rail yard (the starter) train then turn the steam engine REAR way and back it up and attach it to the rest of the trains then start the other trains (closest to the steam first).

A tip for the steam locomotive is put the water at 65% and coal at 100 with realgularter at 45 for pressure and then u want to keep sholviling coal

You can leave the water regulator on to keep filling the boiler with water.and you must keep shoveling coal every about 3 minutes depending on where your regulator and your reverser is atI love the steam locomotive in yes I have used it on a few missions it is difficult but as long as you keep it up with the coal and just don't let the pressure build-up too much without being able to really sit there is a relief valve inside the locomotive you can use it to release steam if too much but if you don't use it it will blow up there is also a sandbox you can use it to not cause we'll slip it's also great for using some of the heavier loads and going uphill

The steam train is a three person game. One to operate the throttle, one to shovel the coal and the other to monitor the water. The two people not shoveling coal are responsible for telling each other what is in front of the train because, as you have just seen, the visibility is horrible. I don't know about the game, but in real life the boiler would explode if the pressure got too high or if the water got too low. If the water level got too high, you'd blow the drive pistons. All the while, if you got too close to the boiler, you'd get burned.

Hey camodo gaming I've done that before but not on a game in real life I drive steam engines in Real Life by myself not full-size steam engines but miniature steam engines and it is so fun

you should grab a train with trailers and derail and try to rescue the cargo

not a train guy but i think you need to feed water constantly to the tank. you are losing pressure hellishly so i believe there's a reservoir which should've collected the condensed superheated steam. you need to create a feedback loop between the steam and the water.

The brakes were on, mainly because I'm pretty sure the manual got it reversed so you had the brakes on for the steam train the entire time which could explain why it wasn't moving and kept dying out

You should make a video of multiplayer in derail valley in the steam train and it would be easier for the steam train when you are in multiplayer

Tip of advice: steam engines hate full boilers. You need some airspace for the steam to be built. If not. Your making a tea kettle on the stove. With the hole plugged with a cork. Which will cause explosion.

Fun fact. You CAN turn it into a bomb by running it out of water, keeping the boiler hot and refilling it to max. What happens is when the boiler is low, it leaves the top of the firebox (crown sheet) exposed to air causing it to overheat and the metal to weaken, than as you refill it, water covers the hot crown sheet, causing the water to flash to steam, causing the boiler pressure to spike, the hot metal to break and, BOOM! There go the boiler tubes flying everywhere! And that is how you make a steam boiler explosion. And a Chernobyl disaster!

check to see if the locomotive has an automatic coal feeder and if it has a pop-off valve (safety valve) it wont explode unless you add water once it gets below the crown sheet in the fire box. don't worry I know lots about steam locomotives i'll give you more tips if you need!

Ok, tip 1: brake levers facing towards you means they are released. Tip 2: there is a pressure relief valve that automatically vents steam pressure if it gets too high. Tip 3: RELEASE YOUR DAMN BRAKES. Source: I have over 100 hours in Derail Valley and I hold the unofficial record for the heaviest haul on a single steam engine (2267 tons from steel mill to harbor streamed on Twitch.)

Steam trains are actually a 2 or more man job, fireman (they control the firebox), engineer and usually there’s a conductor and a brakeman
