Paradise, California isn’t the town it was before the Camp Fire, but residents and businesses have started rebuilding, if slowly. For some modern day pioneers, it's becoming home again.

Paradise wasn't the only town that was nearly wiped out. Eighty percent of Magalia is gone and most of Concow is gone along with other outlining smaller towns. It was far more than 27K evacuees. There was approximately 45k people that evacuated. Many of us were on our own. No one came to help us in Magalia. There was no phone calls, no news reports and nothing on the radio. Butte County failed us all. If my daughter didn't call that morning, my family and I wouldn't be here today. It will be one year on the 8th since the fire, but it is remembered as if it was yesterday. We no longer live in California.

You need sprinklers on roofs and water enought to keep them running 1 hour , and fire gates and maybe a system of sprinklers bordering the firegates and maybe a system which would allow tankers as water storage and some new tech like blowing watermist through fans .

I feel really upset about this fire. I didn't go through the pain of losing a home or a family member, but it saddens me to hear about what happened. I live a hour away from Paradise and was still effected by the smoke. I had to even stay home from school because it was so horrible. As I said I live a HOUR away from Paradise. I'm from Paradise and was lucky enough to escaped during the evacuation. I will say that most of those trees In Paradise need to be cut down because they are badly damaged by the fire or dead and at risk to fall due to the California bark beetle. It's a good thing that thousands of more trees are coming down. It should have happened YEARS ago so Paradise wouldn't have burned. But unfortunately it did. I've lived in Paradise all 34 years of my life and can honestly say that I'm surprised that a fire of the "Camp Fire" magnitude didn't have years ago. I'm currently living in Oroville and 1 day plan on moving back. Only issue is that there's no place's to live.(if you're wanting to rent). or if you're looking to buy, there's not much to choose from since most houses that survived either have smoke damage, or dead trees yet to be taken down. or is the only house that survived on their block. Like who want's to be the only house with no neighbors? Paradise will rebuild, and repopulate. It will take years, but I'm looking forward to it. My hope is there will be more jobs coming to this community, and that with all the trees being cut down that there will be more land to develop on for more houses and new roads.

How about building houses like real houses out of stonewalls and concrete instead of press chipboard? Fire or no fire the shell would be still there. Ready for a renovation.
